Or buy an ex-USAF deuce that has had the dual system brake mod applied at the factory. This is the extremely weak spot in the deuce, the lack of an economical, superbly engineered dual cylinder master brake unit. Loose any hose, any line and you have just checked yourself...

I agree with Rustystud above, likely its either a failed head gasket (or both head gaskets), or a cracked or warped head. I'd pull the head and have it checked at a machine shop for cracks and warps, if it's warped, that can be machined out...if it's cracked, time to locate...

Any brake shop that handles truck brakes can reline your parking brake shoes. My advice...Don't leave home without it working. It WON'T stop you in an emergency above a couple of MPH, BUT it will keep your truck from rolling away when parked, and you can devise a locking...

Interesting from an historical point of view, reinventing armor to convoy vehicles seems to happen again and again. Why any civilian would need one is beyond my comprehension (even in Detroit or Hoboken), but your mileage would be about 1 MPG, and the trucks springs...

Remember, almost everything in the military is "disposable" under the right conditions. The M422/M422A1's were much more expensive then the standard M38A1's, but then they were designed to be airlifted by the old Sikorsky helicopters that preceded the UH-1 Huey's, so the...

I am glad that the truck found a good home with you. I may have the original pintle hook for it stashed around here somewhere. The pintle bracket was made to hinge up in a recess under the rear of the fuel tank and latch to the frame. When lowered down a long...

Any truck machine shop should be able to salvage and weld a new CV joint off of a large civilian truck to the end of your failed driveline. However, you will have to take said driveline components off the truck to haul them in. I had a Ford F250 that blew the rear U joints...

I believe that the normal maximum on the NDCC's on the road were about 50-60 lbs, though to make it steer easier you could go 60-70 PSI max (carefully) on the front tires and you will find that the truck steers and rides better on the road.

Seems like the one thing we all forgot....The alcohol inspirator for the air compressor to keep ice from forming in the air brake assist system....... A frozen up air pack will make your day very much harder then you could ever imagine.....:!:
Three rail chains for the...

If rodding won't correct the problem, if your original radiator is not a "Bucket" type (like the M35A2's), you can have a radiator shop recore it for much less then a replacement, and if you add 1 row of tubes in the new core, you'll never have a problem with overheats.

Imagine what you could have done with my 1970's Sears geared 2-1/2 HP 1/2" drill on your torque multipler! This critter is the one where if it catches, you get your hands off the handles or it will break them...... I bought it for reasonable in the 1970's, and it is about...

Fabricating a slightly larger cab protector should not be hard? Why larger do you ask, canvas cab tops are not notoriously good at protecting the driver from any rolling, shifting, or mis-dumped loads.......I am sure that David Doyle may have his sources for the blueprints...

Depending on what happens to my next posting, I may (or may not) be able to get over to Korea and see if KIA can do a factory overhaul on pre-1990/1 KM450's. From my understanding, as the truck would be 25+ years old, it would only have to meet the safety/emission...

Also try WeeBee Webbing in Ohio, David Pizzoferrato has restored at least one M170, he may know where parts are to be had and can likely do your canvas work.8)

I believe that that same body was used for the basis of the Dodge carryall station wagon, and possibly a base side (US) Ambulance. In any case it is a very unusual survivor, so do right by it and it will likely do right by you. Good Luck!:driver:

Most shops that make truck tarps and boat covers can get you the canvas fasteners you are looking for, but you might want to check MSC's on line catalog (Machinist's Supply Company) as they have a wealth of such odd items, as does Grainger.
Good luck![thumbzup]
