Asking the truck to do too many things. Tight turning radius or 20ft rollback bed, can't achieve both at the same time with a straight frame truck. A mk48 maybe since it pivots in the middle. With the short wheelbase the dump truck will not turn with that many axles in the rear unless they were...
More rivet removal today, now 50% complete with getting rid of those. Middle axle driver side hub. after cleaning them up 2 came out with just some air hammer work. The other 8 required being drilled, then basically folded in with the air hammer before they finally let go.
Not exactly a...
Need a EGT (exhaust gas temperature) gauge first before adjusting the fuel. 1200F is max temps, preferably 1100F for sustained.
Once you have that and want to adjust the fuel flow correctly:
Dual fuel line mod
Need a pressure gauge able to read 200psi+
Lower numbered fuel button
Good video on...
If the m939 series cab is the same length from front/rear as the m809 series cab then this will give a pretty good idea of where a forward mounted shifter pops up through the floorboard.
sweet, not too bad then for the install IF no hood mods are needed. If there is not enough clearance then my goal would be to modify the hood like yours where it's a sleeper.
Can't remember, did you have to replace the push rods with the Jakes or was it just that plug?
Should make some...
Any film or sludge material in the cooling systems of the other engines? Red and green don't mix well and have some bad chemical reactions.
My wrecker has green in it.
If you decide to swap the tcase out go with the T1138 from the m939 series 5 tons. It's a .73 high range gear ratio which will improve your highway RPM's.
Neither preferably, I'm not a body work kinda guy hahaha. Only ordered 2 Jakes so they should (fingers crossed) fit on the middle/rear heads without having to modify the hood. If body work is needed then will most likely raise the whole thing.
Got some gas for the torch yesterday. Cut the...
For the PTO you might run into clearance issues. If so an option would be to install a PTO angled adapter to rotate it downwards for clearance.
Looking more and more like it's a pretty direct swap minus the clutch controls (simplified with hydraulic setup as you mentioned).
For the price we got those hydraulic rotary manifolds for I can't complain. Was planning to do the hydraulic system mods in June but with the slow progress on the air brake conversion and a event around July 4th where the crane is needed, the hydraulic mods are probably delayed until...
No idea on the NSN for them.
The runflats/beadlock that came on them are a 5 piece setup. The 3 runflat parts bolt together, then there are 2 1" rubber spacers that go between the assembled run flat and the bead of the tire. Pics in post #129...
Shifter location will depend on if you use a forward mounted model or standard. The forward model will be similar to the m809 series trucks (shifter comes up right by the dash). Standard is about 8-10" further back.
Oh today was a bit expensive, about $430 worth of valves, fittings, and more hose ends. That's ordering them on Amazon too which saved alot.
2 R12 service brakes valves (4 ports each so 1 per rear axle with wedge brakes)
1 R14 parking brake valve
Lots of push to connect fittings for remaining...
WillWagner The Cummins repower program, which the 2.8 is the first offering of, comes with different emission packages depending on the customers request. They all come with EGR but the DPF system is not mandatory and legal without it in all but California. So yes you can buy the engine directly...
The 80's chevy pickups are 18ft long as a reg cab long bed, so 16ft for a porch should be fine length wise. For strength of the platform I'd extend the trailer frame and move the stock bumper back there. Maybe install a hinge mount for the bumper so if you go offroad at all you could pivot the...
The trailer will stay with the tandems.
I'll create a build thread for the trailer when the project starts, currently working on the airbrake conversion to the m816 wrecker. The axles will be gutted on the trailer for less rolling resistance.
