    MEP-002A Engine Stop Solenoid

But what is your oil pressure gauge reading? And like Ray said, did you try holding the arm up to see if it stays running and I would ad to that to closely monitor the oil pressure gauge while doing it. The other sensor that can shut it down is the overheat sensor. I think that one would be more...

    MEP-002A Engine Stop Solenoid

Was your oil pressure staying steady and at a reasonable pressure or was it very low at the time? Will it start when cold but do this when warmed up? Sounds like an oil pressure issue to me. You have checked the oil level haven't you?

First MEP 803A, fix up help

I admire the skill and patience of you guys that can take these electronics apart and make them work. AND track down replacements!! Icesythe7, I now understand why you are always wanting to put the replacement meters and senders in. LOL.

First MEP 803A, fix up help

Remember, those people in the military did not have to pay for the parts they were pulling out of the parts supply. And the manuals were written for guys right out of high school with very little or even no experience working on equipment. It is much easier to tell them to replace it than to...

3 Phase to Single Phase Step Down Transformers

There is a lesson to be learned here, don't overthink things. We have all done it. I still do at times and then I say wait a minute, Sit down and clear the slate and start over here. Sometimes you get laser focused on something and you do not look at your options.

First MEP 803A, fix up help

You are correct, if the sender is out of spec and it is 9.00 them replace it. BUT, you are expecting $9.00 senders and $25.00 meters to do the jobs of $50.00 senders and $500.00 meters and that is simply not going to happen. The gauges on these units tell the operator it is working...

First MEP 803A, fix up help

You are headed in a bad direction with the oil!!!!!! I wish I had gotten to you before you drained the old oil. You really needed to have that oil sent out and analyzed and that would tell you the condition of the inside of the engine. But whatever you do do NOT run straight ATF as oil!!! That...

3 Phase to Single Phase Step Down Transformers

Or you could buy an installed and turn key commercial unit and probably save money over all those options. PLUS, you have readily available parts and service. There are many ways to look at this. In days gone by military surplus equipment was the way to go to get decent equipment for a really...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

I don't remember Guy, I will look at it the next time I am out back. I need to get it in the garage and put a new carb on it, if I can find the carb I bought about 6 years ago. It is one of those small gasoline screamers that whine like no tomorrow. I have that and it's 1500 watt 110/220 brother...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

I have a 1500 watt 24 volt generator that I use to start my equipment when I can't get to it with another 24 volt vehicle. I have a slave cable hardwired to that set that I can just plug into whatever I am trying to start. Small engine stuff like compressors and such will start right up just on...

3 Phase to Single Phase Step Down Transformers

Well, we are talking about the common person that does not have those skills. I am one of them. I know how to do household wiring and I can read directions well but I am not good with making up my own controls and I would not trust my house and family to them. I am the common sense emergence...

3 Phase to Single Phase Step Down Transformers

If what you have now is the old style tank type water heater it will have plenty of stored hot water stored for breakfast. And the coffee maker keeping coffee hot is very little draw for very short periods. Again, emergency situations call for common sense solutions. If you want to live the full...

3 Phase to Single Phase Step Down Transformers

Back feeding a panel where you have to remember to turn off the main is illegal no matter where you are. There are simple panel covers made just for doing this that have a back feed breaker designed to feed in that direction PLUS, You cannot feed the panel from the generator unless an interlock...

3 Phase to Single Phase Step Down Transformers

Load management during emergencies is simple common sense. Using the figures you gave I would switch off the pool pump for the duration of the outage, period. The hot water heater would be switched off during times I am cooking or using high draw kitchen appliances. Once done in the kitchen...

3 Phase to Single Phase Step Down Transformers

The way I understand it those transformers draw full current on two legs and zero current on the third leg. I am not a generator guy but to me that seems like a bad idea. I am curious to see what the experts say.

    Mep-803 question

The IP is probably 1P and is just an inventory marker for the people at DRMO, Richie Bros., or the unit disposing of it.

    I'm an idiot!!! - Fermont MEP-802A 5kW

And that the starter is good? Check wire connections at starter. Solenoid to starter motor.

When you say it kicked the breaker are you doing the load test from the convenience outlets?

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

With all the issues this machine has had I have to wonder if maybe it was a flood victim?

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Is that line in the green supposed to represent 24 volts or 28 volts? I would think center of green would be 24 volts. 28 volts would be high end of green. I have never, ever found meters in military equipment accurate, they are basic indicators of a problem. They will put accurate meters where...
