I will be heading up to Buffalo March 2nd and returning to NYC March 5th. Dont know if you still need the item moved but I will have room in the truck.
When i did mine, I made sure everything was level. Dont want them to be stressed when sitting level. Also tighten them with hand tools. I heard of using an impact gun could cause them to spin in the actual dog bone. I do suggest 1 inch drive tools and lots of cheater extensions. I used my 1...
How does the M51 tow the loaded Ferree trailer? Do you know how much you gross? Im looking to rent a backhoe and bring it home, locally, for a weekend.
I have no experience with military crate motors, so I cant offer any help with those. It does sound like you are mechanically inclined. If your willing to tackle a rebuild, I read that you have two other 250 motors laying around. I personally like knowing where and how a motor failed, so you...
Learn something new everyday. Never owned a multifuel and have not done a lot of research on them. Guess there not as strong as I thought they were. I have to change my expectations of a multifuel. 15psi is where the fun begins!
Well the HT3B isnt huge. HX35 is too small, its small for the 5.9 Cummins it usually comes on. HX40s dont have the best track record as stated before. Personally, if Im going to turbo something, its going to be an upgrade. The HT3B is usually a 73mm to 75mm inducer so nothing crazy. I was...
Just another thought, someone mentioned the LDS turbo has some whistle to it. With the intake piping off, and someone else in the drivers seat, you should be able to give her some throttle and see/hear the turbo spool. It wont create a lot of boost, but it will increase the speed of the...
After reading all of this, I was going to suggest waste gate on the turbo. I was not sure if your turbo had a waste gate. Since it does, the easiest way to check is to look up shop air to a regulator and then apply air pressure to the waste gate. As your slowly increase the pressure, you...
Welcome from NY. She looks to be well taken care of. Nothing a new hood and some body work cant fix. Looks like you have a drop side bed as well. Nice score on an M813, they are pretty rare! Good luck with the green disease!
To be honest, I thought my service glad hand had something wrong with it the first time I went to check it. But I did some research and then attached an adapter and 50 foot of hose so I could check it in the cab while applying the brakes. Hard to check it when you have to be in two places at once!
I think these guys hit it pretty well. I have seen M931s get through some rough terrain by themselves. Adding a big long and heavy van trailer will definitely hinder any of these trucks. I thought of a few questions:
What are the dimensions of the van trailer? Mainly concerned about height...
I have to give you credit for the amount of driving you do. I can barely stand after driving my truck 200 miles and 5-6 hours. Do you have other mods done to your truck to increase driver comfort? I have the goodyear MVTs at about 50-55 psi to soften them up.
Thanks to all for your input. Im seeing as what is the best route to take in this hobby. I will definitely install an air ride seat in my 813 but that wont change all the other characeristics of the truck. I would like to get some seat time in a M916 to see how it compares. Maybe one day Ill...
I wanted to see what every ones opinions are on the different cabs that are popular on the 5 ton page. Im very familiar with the m813 cab and while functional and easy to work on, not the most comfortable space to in be for long periods.
How does the cab of a 813 compare to a newer 900...
Im curious as to what failed? Normally the allisons have a good track record. I has to agree with SLOrazorsedge, I would bet money the torque converters are different. I would believe the stall speed has to be different for the different types of power bands in each engine. If you put a 8.3...
I had an awesome time. It was great to see everybody and have a sucessful day of wheelin'. I do have some pictures and videos. Ill up load them to photobucket and post the link here. Hope to see you all at the next one!
Thanks again to Joe for putting it together! Thanks to Rich for...
