Let's see. Have the main parts on the way in june consisting of the wiffle tree, both spades, crane support legs, spare PTO shaft for the crane, tow lights, 1 single and double 5/8 line snatch blocks, 1 single 3/4 line snatch block, complete medium towbar setup.
Currently in/on the truck:

for highway only I'd use the older 5 ton axles because of the cheaper bearings and seals. Remove the outer seal so it will be wet hubs. To get enough oil into the axle (stock fill port by the diff is too low for this) you could drill a new fill plug higher.
If you want to keep it original the Mack will pull better than the 6602 and multifuel, parts for it are getting difficult to find.
For more modern with much higher power capabilities a Cummins 8.3L or a International DT466 would be great upgrades.

Havent seen a lockout for the top loader rockwell axles.
I was planning to do the same thing to my deuce last fall until I crawled underneath a 5 ton (parked next to a deuce) and was able to see the differences first hand.
Thought about it, but more hassle than you think.
The front output shaft is on the opposite side. So you would need to remove the front axle, pull the knuckles off, pull the differential, spin the housing 180 degrees, then reinstall everything.
The other issue is the rear axle. The upper part...
I'm running 2" wheel spacers both front and rear on my 82 chevy k20 with the humvee wheels/tires. Had to trim the fenders to clear the tires but no issues with the spacers. Will be pushing the front axle forward 1" for clearance with the fenderwell and need to trim some more with my rear...
Weather cooperated yesterday and got the replacement wheel studs so finished up the passenger side hub/wheel work. Next step is to install the new soft brake lines then turn the truck around so the driver side is accessible.
Also changed out the air intake for the Donaldson 5".
The rear axle is the easy part. Finding a medium duty box/flatbed truck at a junk yard is not uncommon and will give you a axle with similar strength (think International trucks for example).
A replacement front axle will be difficult to find, and at least double what you paid for the truck...
The FDC does not determine if your engine can run on other fuels. All the FDC is designed to do is make your power output similar with different fuels. Gasoline has the lowest BTU's, and the FDC allows for maximum fuel flow. Diesel fuel and oils have more BTU's, so the FDC restricts flow.
