Started the day by getting the fuel system working on the driver side tank. Then washed out the cab and some of the front side to get most of the dirt off.
Crawled underneath to look at the crane PTO and found this on the underside of the crane
Yep using 2 people we did that. Clutch in, 4th gear, power divider pulled forward, tcase neutral. On bed the crane lever pulled to the rear, then clutch released. PTO shaft to the crane spins, fluid is almost full, but no operations from the crane.
Rear winch works.
Big fan of the newer air...
Why do things always pop up when money is tight. Valence found a box from an older version of the M109, for cheap. Would need to be rebuilt but the roof looks fine and the main frame looks solid.
Problem is, how to transport it and where to store it until I get some land, probably over a year...
Good progress with the wrecker today. Fired it up and started testing things out. Drives and brakes, rear PTO works. Rear winch functions like it should.
Front PTO is not engaging. The linkage moves, and the little stub shaft spins but the driveshaft from the PTO does not.
Crane does not...
Don't know if it was designed that way. During the return trip I didn't risk turning the truck off because it was being difficult to start on the way down (pumps were going out and I hadn't realized it yet). Good thing, because after that trip the truck would not start until the pumps were replaced.
Could be corrosion on the axle at the sealing surface.
I'd also check the weight at another scale location, just to verify. Granted the deuce will handle the weight, you are finding the weak links.
Is that camper made from a old shop trailer, like a m750?
