There IS something to be said for the M715.... KIA produces one with a diesel engine, I only wish we could figure out how to get a batch of them over here at a good price.... Our 715 would hold 45-52 MPH before she stared bouncing from the unbalanced and unaligned front end...

Seems that my friend Stumps up above was a bit out of joint at my comments.... But permit me to say, you don't own the machines in question, Those who did were just the caretakers for the future and they failed miserably at doing their jobs. If you think you do own something...

Still we're splitting hairs here, gentlemen! Whether it was a WWII USAAC P51, or a license built copy, we ARE losing too many historic aircraft for a wild hair thrill. There is almost no need to stunt the planes, and pilot error was obvious here....IF you want to play that...

My deuce is in storage in Texas right now, likely looking for a new home, BUT.... When I run her on the interstates I always placed a reflectoried yellow "Convoy Ahead" Sign on the tailgate, and in bad weather or low light conditions I would use the two amber convoy beacons...

The GP-9 was PRR/PC/CR 7049, sister to 7048 on the (Horseshoe) curve, and I loaned it to a RR museum that repainted it for Penn Central. Unfortunately the RR museum went under when I was furloughed and I could not afford the $40 per mile to get it home dead in train. The...

I kniow you guys are looking for a trauin horn, and I've owned several and at least one GP-9 (Locomotive), but for volume of sound on one air horn, hunt up a Nathan KS-1. I have one I bought back in the 1970's new for about $60.00, and it can be heard for about 3 miles, it's...

May the man rest in peace, I suspect someone else caused the accident. Please notice the "Man drive surplus military truck" tone here in the original accident reporting. I hope we can do something for the family in the way of a remembrance.
ALSO BEWARE... I opened...

I'm not challenging the OP here, but as for Digitaldust, if he's hitting 70+ in a stock M109 shop truck, several things are out of whack... 1. The Speedometer; 2. The GPS; 3. He's dropped it off a tall cliff.... There is no way a stock multifuel will hit those kinds of speeds...

Among military weapons carriers, the M715 was and is one of my favorite trucks, especially if not run to death or beat up beyond salvage. They rode well, steered fairly easy had lots of power for a 5/4 ton truck, and were easy to repair. The only downside is they like to...

Just demil your CUCV by giving it to me, brackets, antennas and all, I'll see that it is safely disposed of as a museum piece. In the Meantime, get your hands on the ex M38A1 that was on EGAY as a USMC which had the slotted windshield for the 106 MM Recoilless rifle, the get...

Gents:
Say what you will about Ethanol.... It IS BAD S**T! I have spent about $1500.00 to correct ethanaol related problems with my 1963 MB S404.114 Unimog, and the local MB genius has taken if from a truck that could run 6 miles without gas related...

Gentlemen:
I know a few of you will get upset at this copy of the HMMWV, but does anyone remember Lenin's statement "that the capitalists will sell the rope that they (the USSR) will use to hang us with?" China's been doing it all along, and guess how many of us happy...

Dear Bob:
Thanks for the numbers, I'll look them up as the MB ones are like buying a car. I would love to come down to visit the mogfest, the only problem is that Uncle Sam doesn't seem disposed to spare me during our busy season, and the S404.114 has...

Gents:
I am looking for both the Mercedes-Benz and Monroe or equivalent shocks (Front and rear) for my 1963 Swiss Army Cargo Unimog S404.114, as she has finally blown the original gaskets on all four shocks due to age (1963). I guess 47-48 years are pretty good life...

Holy Snit, Biggles!
I am very sorry to hear of your trucks having been cut and beat up this way. Another reason for me not to bring my deuce up from Texas! At least down in Texas we have the castle law, which they need to get up here in IL. The cops would've...
March 20th, 2011....
OUCH!!! Even regular diesels really don't like either unless its metered, and not at 75*F! They ain't gas engines, no mater what it says on the can.... The good news is, you're gonna get some wrench time sooner then you thought, the bad news is you're wallet's gonna hate...

Gents:
If I had the time to discuss this at length, you can ship by rail, TTX has Auto racks specially built for trucks, but converting a 60' box is not impossible. But if you're gonna keep negotiating with the railroad you need to form a company that can place an "X" after...

Good luck in your reverse engineering on the A3 CTIS. The Russians had a more reliable system, and in theory CTIS IS a great idea, but like a lot of complex ideas, they don't hold up in the real world of operations on a day to day basis. At least that is one less thing to...
