Wallew:
Good thing you survived the trip, bad thing was Co and the other states are not as logical as Texas and West Virginia, probably bad thing you chose to brag about it on here. I would say that if you can afford to buy it, you should be able to ship it. Unfortunately...

Gents:
Even the white ones on a Unimog won't win any medals for light at night, but you really don't lose your night vision from the gauge lights, you lose it after 50! I did find that by changing the bulbs to ones with the filiament at the height of the slots in the...

I have enjoyed this thread immeasurably, and every time I read about the money getting thrown at a 302 Chevy engine, it just makes me value the Multifuel and the M35A2 better, as I have driven the stock M211 and M135 GMC's back when, and while they are simple, they...

I saw an M211 deuce do 70 once back in West Virginia! Oh, you mean the one that popped its parking brake and ran off a strip mine high wall???? Between you, I and the rock, one of these days some one of the deuce hot rodders are going to blow a tire, throw a driveshaft and...

Has anyone figured out what civillian snow plow set up would work with a Swiss 1963 S404.114 Cargo Carrier? My truck has no hydraulics and a 24VDC electrical system, similar to just about all other stock S404.114's, and since I moved from Texas to the land of ice and...

Interesting prototype rig up there, but I suspect 79M is correct, if the military had needed an M920 wrecker, they probably would have had them. From a layman's point of view, it would seem indeed that a true wrecker imposes strains on its frames and suspention system that a...

No, the headlights and blinkers are two completely different circuits on the truck. The turn signals and hazard lights will work with the three lever headlight control switch in either the parking lights or headlight positions. THEY WILL NOT WORK IN ANY BLACKOUT...

My condolences go out to all those who have been injured or killed at Reno, including Mr. Leeward's family. However, this IS going to raise the question of the adviseability of modifying and pushing 70+ year old airframes and engines beyond their orginal...

This is where the "It's his to do with what he wants" hits the fan. The machine is salvageable, Gramps wants his $$, but I'm not sure what he's figured time, torch gas, loading and hauling into his scrap calculations. He'll clear a lot less then 13.5 per pound, and...

I will admit that the 404.114 is a nasty little beast to get at the engine and transmission for major work, but remember among the Unimog's it is equivalent to the Model A Ford's, the earlier Unimog's were harder to get to some items to repair. When you compare a Unimog...

Just based on having driven a bunch of military vehicles from the Korean War on.... I'd say the S404.114 Unimogs in their cabs are about as heavy as a US M37 and most M35A2's, given that they are a 1-1/2 to 2-1/4 ton truck. The S404's are like Model A's, easy to...

Ichudov:
You're in Illinois and you want to do what with a deuce??? Let's be realistic here, even non-commercially operated dueces need a weight rated plate at $500.00 per year and two inspections. You're gonna need to add weight payment increases tio your drivers...

Gentlemen:
I have heard and seen some interesting things on here, but may I say that if Uncle Sam wants your EUC documented vehicle, generator, whatever back, you had better have some very solid evidence of it's final disposition or destruction, or your tail's in the can...

Dear Mr. Greenberg and Lt. Watson:
THREE CHEERS and a TIGER for both of you gentlemen! Your taking the Lt for a ride probably made way more then two people's days.... You helped reconnect the Lt. with the history he made....

Interesting video of the crawler backhoe flip. I agree with the assessments above, that test was staged under the best possible conditions (EG: no obstructions to impact the cab, and the boom being partway up helped shield the cab. A deuce flip at any speed above 3 or 4...

If it were my choice and I were going out to buy a diesel for reengining purposes on the project you mentioned above, I would avoid both the Detroit and and Cummins and pick a Deutz from Germany, just for the reliability, better engineering and cold...

At least the B-52 will still be going in 2040, when the youngest will be around 70! That was a weapons system that paid off big, like the A10 Warthog and the A7 corsair. Our Army, Navy and Marine Corps are hooked on having new toys, instead of having toys that can take...

As to the HMMWV above, you're on your own. As to the Federal VIN SN system of 17 digits..... THERE are a heck of a lot of legitimate US and foreign vehicles around built before the 17 digit system. Functionally my Unimog has about a 7 or 8 digit number...
