I was never a fan of the M211 and M135's as they were rather slow and underpowered compared to the M35A2 (from practical experience), BUT you truck looks magnificent! I would almost corrupt me from the M35A2, but probably not from the Unimg. Keep up the good work!

The Unimog Story continues.......:cookoo:
Well, I finally got the Unimog to where she will behave herself on regular gasoline and sometimes ethanol -10% Gasoline 90% fuels. All the problems with the Unimog since last January (2011) was that the Ethanol in the gasoline...

Based on my Unimog S404.114's dislike for the US M105A2 from my deuce, I suspect the the M416 above would be better, as the Unimog is a much heavier truck then a Pinz.

I used to get our M715 up to 50-55 with four pallets of solid common brick on the level, BUT the CD director had never had the truck balanced or aligned, so she would start bouncing pretty good if you hit a pothole. This was in 1982, so the truck wasn't all that...

No you can't run for President in 2012, because you have a record!
N.B. A old fellow down in Texas told me in 'Nam he was stopped for doing 20 through a village by an MP, while he was on an emergency ammo resupply run for his artillery battery...

I'm glad you made it, but once again permit me to reiterate four little letters that might have saved your truck as well as yourself....P.M.I.S. or Pre-Operation inspection if you will. It doesn't matter if the truck is a week old or fifty years old, assuming that...

I have a nice M35A2 + M105A2 up in Blossom, by Paris, TX. It is a Vietnam and Desert Storm Deuce with 3rd A CAv connections. Drop me a line and I think you will find it a very good truck, better then the junque from GL. Its looking for a new home, unless I happen to get the...

CM Automotive:
Gentlemen:
Permit me to extend my thanks to you for the folks on here that have M35A3's, as their trucks are apt to have more issues on many systems as they are inherently more complex machines then the M35A2 or Unimog which I own. There is a fair chance...

The man who wants an air starter on a deuce, is a man who never had an air starter fail on anything else..... As for the submarine guys up above, anyone notice any new diesel subs in the US Navy lately? An electric starter is always a better idea as to torque, and if you...

Everybody THINKS that the Unimog is top heavy? Man, for a FWD ( and a real FWD at that, with factory lockers), the center of gravity is just behind and below the cab floor due to that humoungus transmission (speaking from the 404.114, that is). I've driven almost every...

Your thoughts about cooking the tranny have merit, but I will say that properly topped up my S404.114 went about 750 miles in 3 days last year on the Interstates in 103-104*F heat. The trick was to make sure she was topped up, and I held between 45-49 MPH...

I loved the M715's, good power, good speed and built for serious work. I would suggest you think very hard before you start chopping as for a almost 50 year old MV, it's pretty solid and repairable. It's a pity the trail riders don't get their heads togather and buy a...

Being in West Virginia you will NEED a alcohol evaporator, not if. Don't jury rig it either. Yes the deuce does have hydraulic brakes, BUT the power to stop in any reasonable distance is determined by the air pack. Even with draining several times a day in Texas...

My M35A2 came with the hard top. It's too darn hot in the summer and too darn cold in the winter. Replaced same with GMA insulated soft top and a bow set acquired from the folks in Utah...no complaints! a much better top for me and easier to remove when the need...

I do miss my deuce and a half, which is stored in Texas, BUT when you think that an S404.114 can carry almost the same payload, get into and out of places a deuce never could. One guy up above here said his landrover could get there faster then a Unimog, I will only...

I might suggest retaining the 686A Tan, as you will find it is a lot cooler in the sun then any variation of OD green and you will want to stay away from any black or dark browns on the roofs. The 686A Tan on my deuce was always cooler then the OD green on my...

Now is the time to: 1. Use the chain to lock the wheel;2. Fabricate the little iron horseshoe with holes to lock out the engine kill handle; and 3. Fabricate the bracket that goes on the floorboards and allows you to padlock the emergency brake in...

Dear acvolt145:
Check with David Doyle on here. He has the letter from the Attorney General of the US to a company that was handling surplused Army vehicles, and the letter stated according to US code that as these vehicles were built to US Army specifications, that they...
