Not exactly a CUCV but a Military 6.5L Turbo Diesel

Now that I see what it is parked next to be SURE to drop the transmission pan and see what is in there. Hopefully nothing, but it is due for a fluid and filter change anyway because I can assure you they showed it no mercy towing that trailer. "Think we will make it on time Sarge? It ain't your...

New axles, 14 bolt floating good deal?

I think you have to move the perches, You will probably need an adapter u-joint that fits the shaft and the rear. These are a common number that I do not remember but someone will have it. The E-brake cables I honestly do not remember. It has been a long time since I did a swap and the old...

Not exactly a CUCV but a Military 6.5L Turbo Diesel

That is not a bad tranny after some upgrades and if you don't beat on it then it will last a very long time as is. Put a BIG transmission cooler on it. Best insurance you will ever have.

    New From NJ

Not as the crow flies but I would have to go 295 and 55 to get to you or the shore route. Either way is a hike. Now of coarse some of the western guys are looking at the map and thinking " My driveway is longer than that!":lol::lol: Rick

New axles, 14 bolt floating good deal?

Keep in mind that you will have grossly mismatched brakes also. Your best bet is to go with a matching 60 in the front. Then get a master cylinder for a one ton.

    MEP-003a won't start, really confusing

Do you have the stock filter arrangement? If so have you opened the drains on the filters to see if there is and water? It would take a lot of water to get to the pump though. Are the screens in the pumps clean? When you have it in the prime position are you getting fuel back to the tank? When...

    Cracked my intake manifold today

I NEVER use those easy outs! They are designed to do just the opposite of what you want to do, they tighten the bolt in the hole. The best trick I have found is to place a nut over the offending broken bolt and crank the mig way up and weld through the hole in the nut directly to the end of the...

Not exactly a CUCV but a Military 6.5L Turbo Diesel

He is planning on driving it not parting it. The 6.5 is not a bad engine, like the 6.2 it is underpowered but they get fantastic fuel mileage. Does it have the 700R4 trans?

Welcome, everyone on here from NJ seems to be either far north of me or far south of me. I am dead center of the state. Rick

    Steering question...

Sorry,I didn't see your post from the 18th. Yes camber is adjustable. The body being bent down will affect steering going down the road but not in the way you describe. You seriously need to look at the underbody and check the uni-body rails! If they are rotted out, which is what will cause what...

I know I'm going to win a Gomer award for this question, but here it is anyway!

Depends on whether he was wrapping a duct or a duck. WOW, Not only jumped the track with this one but drove off down the road!:lol::lol:

    MEP-002/003 engine servicing

Thanks for risking your equipment for this test. I am not in the slightest bit a generator engineer so I get to sit back and soak this all in. Is it possible to do damage on the DC side by running to slow? Also, another thought, If there were a load on the generator at the time you idled it down...

Try to purchase a used MEP generator

There you go! Welcome to the forum. The current crop of generators coming out of G/L all seem to have some sort of issues. Some are cheap and easy like a good cleaning of the fuel system and others are much more expensive like missing V/R boards and locked up engines. Always preview the set and...

    Help with Death Shake/Wobble

And I said, "All of the same things pertain". Death wobble is most of the time caused by something other than ball joints or king pins. It is usually found in the steering system somewhere. One thing that has not been mentioned is wheel bearings and spindles. I used to own a 4X4 shop so I saw a...

    Help with Death Shake/Wobble

All of the same things pertain except it is much easier to detect worn ball joints. Jack under the axle and put a pry bar under the tire and pry up and down, if there is play the lower ball joint is bad. Grab the top of the tire and push in and out, if you have play the upper is bad. Ball joints...
