    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

The 10 tons get in your blood I guess. Is that a Cummins or LeRoi you are working on ?

    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

Thanks fasttruck for the photos. That spare tire carrier is a pretty substantial structure we are missing. I think if we have to fabricate it we will need some photos of one with the spare tire removed. I'm still hoping to find an old single winch hulk we can cut one off of and weld it onto...

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

More recently I replaced the front driveshaft yoke seal in the transfer case. This seal is one of the low points in the transfer case and when it is leaking you lose most of the oil too. It turns out the seal is the same part number as the same seal in the M series 5 ton military trucks, so the...

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

It's been a few months since we have had an update, and I have gotten a good bit of work done. Since my goal is to get the red Matt's Garage Federal road worthy, there were several things that needed to be done. First we would need some lights. The headlights worked, but not both at the same...

    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

Thanks for all the nice comments, and the photos from fasttruck as well. We work on this truck in fits and spurts as I'm in Florida and Ken and the truck are in Connecticut. Fortunately we have some very talented guys helping us when we are able to work on it, which allows us to get a lot done...

    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

Paul probably had 3 hours for the primer and another 3 for the top coat. He did a great job. Yes, there are lots of nooks and crannies, I found them all (or at least most I think) while pressure washing and sandblasting.

    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

I'd like to thank everyone for all the suggestions for the parts we needed. New windshield frames, along with takeoff tail lights and front turn signal guards came courtesy of dueceman51.The correct 5th wheel and ramps were found at Alfa Heaven in Wisconsin, and a complete set of top bows came...

    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

Thanks for the tips, we are looking into those parts suppliers. Also awaiting the mail man to bring all the books, including the lube spec. We are also hoping to find an M123 hulk someone may be parting out. Just to be clear, we are not new to OD or big trucks, we both own some big WW2 7-1/2...

    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

I've always been more into the WW2 trucks, I have a couple of Federal 7-1/2 tonners, but just jumped into the M series in a big way. A friend and I just bought this 1965 Mack M123A1C with the V8-300 Cummins and 13K miles. It's in very good running condition and everything seems to work like it...

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

The only work she has done is pull a few trees out of the ground. It's just a toy that I will bring to a few shows that are not far from home. I'm getting it a little more roadworthy now. In Florida there are two types of antique vehicle tags, a Permanent Antique tag for vehicles at least 30...

New (to me) tires. I think they are worth more than the whole truck !

    Allison auto box advice

When I read this thread a few months ago I really didn't understand what you were wanting to do, but after re-reading it I think I get it now. Your Diamond T M20 has an automatic main transmission installed and you want to be able to shift the manual 3 speed aux transmission on the fly. I don't...

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Over the past several months I have been doing a little work on the red Federal. A NOS carburetor and rebuilt fuel pump has it running smoothly. I swapped the generator from the other C2, installed an NOS regulator, and rewired the charging circuit, so now it is charging like it should. A new...

    So I bought this...burma jeep

Here's a another single rear wheel GTB, maybe. I would say this is a perfect candidate for modification, except that someone has already modified it beyond all reasonable standards. Rube Goldberg on a 5 day drunk, maybe.

    So I bought this...burma jeep

I think the single rear wheel GTB's are pretty rare. I only have seen photos of one other one. It was owned by the late Kevin Kronlund. I don't know where it is now. You truck is also appears very complete. I would have a hard time modifying it. I think it is rare enough to restore back to...

This is a slightly different concept but here is the inertia starter in action on my 1943 Federal 606. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LsVXPDUaCo

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Brian, thanks very much for posting ! I have been searching for some history on the Matt's Garage truck without much luck. I did have one of the Hamiliton's contact me through Facebook and he had an old photo of the truck, but it was taken after the boom was removed. He is looking for more...

Julianne, I've seen pictures of your truck in the other thread, it is a nice one. I've just been contacted by someone else in Australia who has a C2. He bought the John Belfield truck. We need to connect you two, send me a pm.

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Here is a video I made of cranking up the inertia starter on the '43 Federal 606. It is basically the same as the inertia starters used on aircraft in the 1920's and 1930's and was original equipment on the C2 wreckers. It also has a normal electric starter...

Had the twins out for some photos together last week. The red one is the '43 from Sam Shafer.
