That's why I mentioned that test, reading through the thread it had not been done yet. Saves him the hassle of pulling the head if it's not the problem.
Been dealing with fuel issues on mine lately. If, during that test, the fuel coming out of the HH ports for the injector lines drops to about 6" or shorter sprays, your fuel problem is further back in the system.
Before you proceed try 1 more thing. Reinstall the 4 nuts to secure the HH. Reattach the fuel feed and return lines.
Turn the electric on until fuel is spilling out of the center bolt hole on the HH.
With fuel coming out, turn off the electric system, and reinstall that center bolt. Turn...
Wheel bearings are good to go now. Took the truck for a test drive, cruises up to 50-53mph without complaint. Can't get over that since the start of the last trip.
Its a lack of fuel issue. Yes the electric pump is pushing 55psi through a 1/2" fuel line. Per the TM's the injection pump needs 35...
Agreed, didn't check the temp before disassembly. After I removed the wheel and started to tear into the hub I couldn't hold any of the parts with gloves on, too hot. The old grease was burnt black, and gritty.
When I did the super singles conversion I repacked all the other hubs with better...
Ah, the joys of removing a destroyed outer wheel bearing. The 2nd nut wouldn't move, had partially melted to the bearing.
New inner bearing is installed, the new outer bearing is too small to fit on its shoulder. Have replacements to pick up in the morning.
Haha so true. That's one of the things I like about the equipment I worked on in the oilfield, no emissions. When we shutdown they were selling stuff for cheap. Smallest engines were Cat C9's and I thought about getting one because it could fit in the deuce, but with the move I couldn't afford...
