Ethan:
Did you get your dimensions? If not I can access my bar in storage if you still need them, It's a 12 volt bar but it should be identical to a 24 volt.

RE: Re: Wrecker Filter Question
I will when I pull mine, I think for that amount of money and the fact that they have never sold one it must be washable and reusable, in any case for that price I will wait till it has to be changed!

RE: Re: Wrecker Filter Question
Just an update on the hydraulic oil filter located at the base of the wrecker's oil reservoir, SECO has the part but it is $168, he has one in stock but has never sold one!

RE: Re: Wrecker Filter Question
Guys thanks for the info. I am using hydraulic oil with the same viscosity as 10 wt. motor oil. I have looked for two months for bulk 10 wt oil. All I found locally were 5 gal buckets of it which I did use in my power steering. I could find some as a special...
Wreckerman did you win some of those for auction in Little Rock? I had a look a several of them, they were really in good shape, a guy here in town got two of them, he drove them off the lot to his house here in Russellville, some very good deals on some very clean trucks!

PS: If you are...
My M543A2 came from GL completely dry, no fluids! I now have the 70gallons of hydraulic oil for the crane, I want to replace the hydraulic filter at the base of the oil reservoir while it is empty, any one have a source for this filter??
Thanks,
James G.
Light Bars
I have a issue light bar for my 543 but it is 12 volt, Recovery4X4 has seen some reference to it, but I think I am going to invest into some 24 volts bulbs for a conversion.

I have the ground rod and welding leads but I have never cranked up the welder. Before I do I am going to have it checked over, mine has 32 hours on the welder/generator meter.

Just Missed a Parts Truck
David:
If I known you were going to restore one, a pretty good example sold at the Ok forestry dept. sale at Golsby, this summer, for $500, the guy with the salvage yard out side Hooks bought it. It was short the bumper and winch but not a bad parts truck. I have...
So Who Got it
So who got the 543 in KY????? I gave up at watching at $1200, why would someone pay $3000plus for a 40 plus year old wrecker with a cracked transmission and frozen engine that had been sitting out in the woods of Ky for the last 10 years especially when the GSA guy tells anyone...
Russellville, AR
Family is still in Springdale, AR, I had a company make me an offer I couldn't refuse, so short retirement! I am commuting on the weekends from Russellville AR. 123 miles one way to Springdale. It has given me a chance to buy a cabin with five acres of hill top, just right...
One of Them
The one on GSA and I have found another one over in Mississippi. Talking to the guy at GSA the one they have is in pretty poor shape with a frozen engine and cracked transmission, he thinks freeze damage in both cases! And sitting for ten years in the weather is tough on it. The...
It looks like I may be getting a second M543A2 wrecker. It does not run but will roll on pretty good tires. Anyone have any idea how much rolling resistance there would be to pull the wrecker off a low boy trailer??? I have a portable 7500 lb rated electric winch along with a good single...
Swing Up seat mount.
There is a small wooden seat section the swings up to fill in the space when the tire is not mounted. I believe, mine has them as well and a part of the seat was still attached.
