M135 CDN W/W Coming Home Soon

The brakes are not hard to do on the GMC (other then everything is heavy) and the adjustment is a breeze with the star wheels. While you have them apart take the adjuster block off and make sure it's working properly and put a little antizee on the screw thread to make sure they keep working...

    M215/m221 build

Ok I understand now. It's your truck and by all means do to it as you see fit. I would just like to point out that I've been in the hobby for almost 30 years now and I've only seen one M221 and that wasn't restored. I don't ever recall seeing one that was restored. I understand yours started...

    M215/m221 build

I'm a little confused here. Are you restoring the truck to a tractor with 5th wheel or are you converting it to something else? I'm wondering why your removing all the tractor stuff off if the truck?

4l80e in m1009 pros and cons

I had a K5 with a 700R4 and 350 gas motor and I loved the OD in it. You can find a good rebuilt with all the upgrades of a 700R4 transmission and not have to deal with electronics. You will have some modifications no matter which way you go. (read that $$$)

    M215/m221 build

It looks like the 5th wheel is in the correct location. The military 5th wheels are neat in that not only do they articulate front to back but also side to side for off road. Keep the pics comming!

cb radio install need some ideas

This is how I was talking about I mounted my radio. Only I left the cup holder and I put the radio on the front and another on the box lid. The mount will work also with a military antenna. They make a base (I forget the number) that will fit the military mount and accept the MS-116 etc...

Looks good so far. I've come to learn that restoring an MV is like eating an elephant. One piece at a time.... :)

cb radio install need some ideas

Have you done a search of the forms yet? I recall reading a few different posting on this subject. I have never mounted a CB radio but I have mounted a 2 meter ham radio and size wise they are simular. I got a middle console out of a civy blazer and mounted it in the truck and mounted the...

    New to the site

Nice M211 you got there! You will find that the ride in the M211 is a good ride and if the brakes are working correctly it will stop well for a big truck. Welcome to the world of OD Fever. You do know that you can't stop at just one right? Again welcome to the site and nice truck!

    880 vs 1008 Cargo Tarps

vinyl like any other fabric will varry in color from batch to batch and lot to lot. I've have seen both M880 and M1008 covers come out of the box new and be anything from a forest green to a gray green to a brow green. It depens on the manufacture of the vinyl on the color outcome.

    CUCV - Slantback

Just remember that the side glass and the tailgate glass are tempered glass which means they will shatter into a gazzilion little pieces if it breaks or if cut. So if you change the glass you will have to have laminate glass cut to fit.

    Need to check wiring

I don't have any experience with HMMWV wiring harnesses, but I do with MVs in general and it always seems to be the #1 problem with MV wiring is grounding. So make sure your grounds are good and that you have star tooth washers at those points to dig into the ground spot. Other than that go by...

    cross assembly/ u joints mutt 151

Someone once told me that the joint was out of a Ford tracktor with a Ford fairlane u-joint caps....or something like that, but that was one of those around the campfire stories....so basically the u-joints on the 151 are a 151 only part. I would check with the surplus vendors like Murry...

    Another M151 windshield question

I thought the early M151 not A1 but straight 151s had the hood bumps like pictured above. Is possible that you have an early windshield. Not much difference between 151 and 151a1 cept maybe the bumps. If anyone knows different please speak up.

    No title HMMWV

Why is he desperate to get rid of it? That right there is a red flag for me. It's one thing to say he's desperate to get rid of it because he needs the money and oh here is the title to it. It's another to need the money and dosen't have a title. Just makes you go hmmmmm. I would follow the...
