Will do Valence. Sounds like you're near Hill AFB, that's officially where I was stationed from 2009-2012 (spent most of that time at Dugway and the demolition ranges over there).
Carnac I cheated, there are MRAP seats in my deuce. 84 decibels in the cab at 55mph (compared to 99 at 50mph stock). Plus I'm planning to take 1-2 weeks on the drive.
I'm used to driving for long hours, just not in a rush on this trip.
Thank you, that will make getting the shelter off much easier.
Rhurey what does 'pink year' mean? Not gonna lie, that just went right over my head haha.
I've been to Vancouver BC Canada before, very pretty area. Also spent 3 years stationed in Utah. Never lived north of Utah.
I like the outdoors a lot, especially in the mountains.
Hahahaha sorry about having no angry wife and screaming kids to greet you. Not the typical oilfield guy you were expecting haha.
Glad you made it home safe, was good to finally meet you!
Thanks. Planning to do some sight seeing along the way, take 1-2 weeks for the drive. Truck is on the 395's and muffled which makes it much more pleasant to drive at 55.
By the way, does anyone have a wrecker in that area that could help with unloading the shelter? I might have the bed roller...
No return trip dawico, loading everything on this drive that's not staying with the house (renting it out for some extra money).
Haha yes Carnac big change. Planning on state highways where I can through New Mexico, Utah, Idaho.
Well, as the title states I'll be making a long distance move sometime between April and July this year. I'll be driving a 71 m35a2 up there with a shelter in the bed. Planning to go to school and enjoy the change in scenery.
Interesting with the weight difference, could be a scale problem or maybe you have a lot more cargo than I usually do.
Last week the company I work for decided to close down (oilfield), kept myself and a few others around to pack things up over the next 2-5 months. Seriously thinking about...
Wait that's just calling for a 9k crane, not listing the actual weight correct?
If the new compressor arrives in time I'll load up the shelter and head to the scale next weekend. My truck was at 13,750 with a 1/2 tank of fuel and no cargo.
Long list of engine mods, looking forward to the progress.
Experience from some of the other members here, water injection is great, the methanol in even low percentage will blow the engine (pre-detonation).
Check with Peashooter about wheel adapters. Not sure if he makes Hemtt plates, but he...
No manuals, just the ID plates on the shelter. Was built in 78, but the weight tag is unreadable.
Taking a guess on the roof I'd say a few hundred pounds.
Hainebd is yours water logged? Or do you have a shelter that was the xray room (lead lined)? I remember you said yours was very heavy
Yea, just occupied with other stuff haha. I'll get one ordered, will be about a week though.
And here's a pic of the MUST shelter. 2 people can set up the expansions. I could raise the roof extension on my own, but couldn't hold it and move the walls out alone. Or lower the floor safely alone...
Great and bad news yesterday.
The great news. Started securing the bed back onto the frame. Each bracket was pushed back about 6 inches so having to drill new holes through the frame to bolt them in place.
Also Carnac came by and delivered the MUST expandable shelter. Great guy, we hung out...
