    Red's deuce/camper project

Well the bed will be moved 2-3" towards the rear. Will line up the end of the bed with the bumperetts.

No worries questions are good! It will be bolted to the frame on both the top and outsides. Doing the test fit today, will have more pics in a little.

Gussets attached, next is the test fit

    Red's deuce/camper project

I can reach the lever from over the bed rails or the side. The space will be tight, right around 6" of room.

Yes gussets will be added to the corners. The goal for me is to not move the bed, might be 2-3" though. I dont want to modify the look of the truck much. The winch and plate are 6" wide. The mount will raise the winch to the floor of the bed, just above the bolt on the back of the cab.

Gotta have it haha. No its the only acronym I know for it. Used by medical for their field hospitals. Carnac posted a video on here about them. 12ft long 8ft wide when closed, and both sides open up to provide roughly 12ft by 18ft.

Agreed Rustystud, their winches just keep on pulling without overheating.

12 volt 4500 pound winch with 3/8" plate. The mount will put the winch over the frame, between the bed and the cab. The camper will be a MUST shelter, basically a expandable s280 shelter. It's a removable shelter, and I don't have a crane at the house. So using a bed winch and a roller at the...

    Red's deuce/camper project

Yes a cap would work, that's what we do with most of the engines at work (Detroit 60 series, 12v, and similar sized Cat). Did some work with the mount for the bed winch last night. Tying it into the frame between the bed and the cab, over the cab mount. Will be a tight fit with a 4500 pound winch.

    Super-Single spare tire swing/gate mount!

For the hinge using a trailer spindle/hub will provide enough strength with a double shear mount.

Agreed, the more bends and restrictions the more heat is retained. The only bends in the exhaust I did are the 3 1/2" bend off the stock turbo (where I changed to a 4") and currently the 90 at the end, which I'm switching to a 45. The stick turbo is a big restriction.

Yes, that's where a better turbo helps. Couple years ago the 6.5L diesel guys were having the same issue, stock turbo was the limiting factor. Found a better flowing turbo that helped all the way around (torque, egt's, fuel economy). The multifuel has the same hurdle in my opinion.

Won't do a cut out, but a better turbo is likely

Boo. I will be loaded down from time to time.

Wired up the egt gauge today, mount still needs a little trimming but works for the test run. No cargo, spiking at 1040 and sustained 860ish at 55mph. Looks like I've got some room to adjust.

Putting a winch in the bed

Similar plan here. Mounting a 12k pound winch (overkill, what I have lying around) on the frame under the front of the bed. Will be routing the line through a roller fairlead at the front of the bed and using a sheave (pulley) at the end of the bed for
