    Red's deuce/camper project

Started off with the passenger side. Unbolted the 4 bolts holding the seat mount to the floor and pulled it out. Went along the rear wall and unbolted all the seatbelts as well since the MRAP seats have their own harness per seat. Took the replacement mounting bracket and bolted it to the...

    Red's deuce/camper project

Finished mounting the seats this morning. Pretty simple install with these seats and some help from Vick. His mounting design makes it almost a bolt in. I had to cut a plate out of the upper cab corner on the passenger side but that's because I leaned the seats back for more comfort. More pics...

    Red's deuce/camper project

Have the passenger seat removed and the new frame installed. Took the truck for a drive to Odessa (bout 60 miles round trip) on the new tires. Handles great, rolling on 30 psi rears 40psi front. Tires are nice and cool to the touch, cruising at 21-2200 rpm. Weather permitting will be working...

What mods would you say are the most important or give the most utility to a deuce?

With gearing an auxiliary trans can be added to provide more gearing options.

    Red's deuce/camper project

Will do. While I have the seats out I'm going to install the fuse block for the 12 volt system back there.

What mods would you say are the most important or give the most utility to a deuce?

For mods upgrading to 395's has been my best, but I drive on the highway regularly where the speed limit is 75, and the big rigs are running 80. For longevity fuel and oil filter upgrades are great. Have a idea with providing better gearing at top speed and a much better low range for...

    Red's deuce/camper project

Good to know that the spare tire can go there with some modification. When it warms back up in a few days I'll install the seats and then the spare tire. Getting the tires was the biggest financial hurdle with the truck project. With that out of the way I feel much better. List is getting...

    Red's deuce/camper project

Finished faster than expected with the tire install. Converted the left side of the truck to right handed threads with the lug nuts. Flipped the hubs, regreased all the wheel bearings and changed out a leaking wheel cylinder.

The adapter plates have arrived, should be a busy weekend flipping hubs and installing the new wheels.

    My actual speed

A spare to turn into an auxiliary transmission. Would provide a .6 overdrive to net lower rpm's for better fuel economy, and a great low range for offroad. I'll go more in depth in my project thread.

    My actual speed

Getting those rpm's down is why I'm looking for a second transmission, summer upgrade

Numbers match ;) wish it was the other way though and you got lucky with the overdrive swap.

    Lds Injection Pump On Ldt

Going off the graph looks like 1800-2000 rpm is the sweet spot for cruising with torque and fuel economy

    Red's deuce/camper project

For those curious the hose is rubber lined steel braid, with a cloth outer lining. Same stuff we use for low pressure fluids at work. Running reusable JIC fittings on the ends, 1/2". The cooling system required a 1/2" and a 3/4" pipe thread adapters for the plumbing. Fuel system uses 1/2" pipe...
