Found it. Passenger side rear rear axle has a flat tire. Since I'm going to the 395's in a few weeks I'll just remove the inner dual tires before the trip to El Paso.
Got the reinforcement brackets built and installed, will try to get pics tomorrow.
Drove it to Odessa (bout 20 miles each way) and started noticing a intermittent vibration throughout the truck at speeds over 40mph (I cruise at 50mph). No feedback through the steering wheel, but would shake the...
Wtxpumper I'm headed to el Paso on Friday the 17th when I get off work around 5pm. Headed back this way on Sunday. I'm currently on the 9x20 ndt's so my cruising speed is 50mph. Figure do some camping and offroading, then load up my bed with cargo on the trip back.
The bumper mods are far from complete. Planning to add a 3/8" thick 34x12" plate to the underside of the frame for the winch mount along with 1/4" plate reinforcement panels.
Wish I'd posted it, would have saved some trouble haha.
This is the idea with the setup, mounting an 18k winch behind the bumper without losing too much on the approach angle. Also want to use the areas outside the frame rails as storage.
With the bumper mounted on the last bolt holes I have...
Agreed not difficult and I have a welder. My wondering (and this might be the beer thinking haha) is if it adds character to it. The bumper will be modified for the electric winch anyways.
So, the wheels and tires are delayed until mid October. Other than a drive through flooded streets a few weeks ago not much to report.
Removed the front bumper to get it ready to be flipped for mounting a front winch. The paper clips were cut off today and Im having a hard time deciding whether...
With the strength depends on what you plan to carry with the truck. Call them to see what they are rated for but most of their suspension products are for the 1 ton truck and lighter market.
As you mentioned how much of a lift in the rear comes down to personal preference. Your springs will...
5k into a complete engine build is very little, even more so for a medium duty engine that when maintained properly and not abused should be a long lifespan motor. As a cost perspective the Detroit 60 series engines that we use (one of our smaller engines, 10-14 liter) costs 65k for a rebuild...
The bed looks like the worst part of the truck with rust, otherwise the truck looks used but would be easy to bring it back.
I say sell it as is for a few thousand (maybe a new seat) and use the money to pay for the parts you need.
