Nothing crazy this weekend with the truck. Fixed the rear exhaust hanger by modifying a clamp and a short piece of chain to match the other hanger by the muffler. So it's finished.
Fired up the truck and drilled/tapped the port for the EGT sensor. Removed the air filter for easy access, made...
There is alot of room over the 24v alt to mount a power steering pump that's belt driven, or you can run the pump from a 5 ton (bolts to the front of the injection pump).
Losing the ability to burn straight gasoline might be lost with the increased air from the higher boost and more efficient turbo. Ability to burn oils though won't be lost.
Motor and veggy oil will work in diesels with 17:1 compression (Cummins 6bt's) without engine issue. The fuel system is more sensitive to the oils than the multifuel is though.
Where the compression ratio comes into play with upgrading performance is the amount of boost. Higher compression...
Sounds like you had a productive weekend.
Installed the fuse block, USB ports, and accessory port for the 12 volt system. Replaced the rubber exhaust hangers with chain. Found a spot to secure my cheater pipe on the truck.
Chain hangers for the exhaust are now setup, shouldn't have any more problems now with it.
Mounted my cheater pipe as well on the truck, tired of it rolling around in the bed. Used a pair of 3" exhaust hangers to mount it along the frame under the driver's side bed.
Agreed, trying to save money on fuel, don't want to lose the savings buying filters constantly.
Currently there is over 1000 gallons sitting there, mixed.
Have some 55 gallon drums that I'm thinking of using with the setup.
Thanks for the help guys.
Great to hear. Was thinking a 3 filter setup with a water separator. 30, 10, 2 micron and pulling the oil from the top to the tank, leaving the bottom 6" or so.
I have access to a mixture of waste oils and haven't been able to find much info on these for fuel in a LDT465.
Gear oil (90wt)
Hydraulic oil
Diesel engine oil
These are mixed in storage containers, rough numbers would be 40% gear, 40%engine, 20% hydraulic oil. Would this be a viable option...
This has sort of developed into a concern. I raised the exhaust higher using some rubber hangers which brought it up high enough to clear the suspension movement and flex. However, didn't take into account the weight of the exhaust system, rough ride, and cheap rubber mounts falling apart...
Rayzer those seats are from a different model MRAP, look a lot like the seats we had in our JERRV while I was in Iraq.
New seats make a huge difference. Even with just short trips I've found mine to be much more enjoyable to drive.
10" long by 14" wide plate, 1/8" thick.
Took it for a drive to the shooting range with a friend. Between the seats, exhaust work, and the lower rpm's thanks to the new tires this truck cruises very comfortably for what it is.
One other seat mod to do with the driver seat. Because mine are...
With the passenger side done time for the driver seat. Started off by pulling the seat bottom up and off, made it easier to access the mounting bolts. With the 4 bolts off the original seat comes out.
A adapter plate is needed for the new seat.
