We have rigged up a large deep funnel with a long piece of 3/4 clear tubing. Feed the gear lube in from the bed and let gravity do the work. I hope we can get some angle on the t-case opening. It seems they have drained everything on the wrecker so we are getting some speed training on...
The Tyson Chicken folks have been good enough to let me use one of their truck pads to unload the wrecker but now I need to move it today, don't want to abuse a good thing I may need in the future! From all the comments, I am thinking of using GL-5, 80W-90 in everything that has been drained...
Well I have been out checking on all the fluids I will need, this is going to cost me at least $700 to refill everything. I need to check the differentials since they drained the power steering, I don't normally run into such dilligent application with most government salvage folks.

What type of fluid do I use to get my power steering to work? The manual says I need 8.5 quarts of fluid but what kind? And it also mentions the steering gear box so 90 weight in it?

RE: Re: M543A2 Winner On GL
Wrecker is here! Would not start on the step bed, batteries were low so I headed to Wal Mart for $120 worth of batteries, which is a whole lot better than the $450 for a wrecker the trucker was advocating! Took about three tries with the fresh batteries to get her...
RE: Re: M543A2 Winner On GL
I don't intend paying him any more than agreed to. The truck is stripped of every thing not bolted down except the batteries and motor oil, all other fluids have been drained, there is no way it can weigh 40,000 lbs.

My truck driver call he has a problem with the 543! He said his truck was acting pretty sluggish with the wrecker so he ran by some friendly scales, he says the wrecker is topping the scales at 40,000 lbs. I told him no way but his reply was the weigh ticket was right there in his hand! How...
I may have some first hand experience on making ruts when the wrecker shows up. he has a step bed with a dove tail, I will have one and one half to two feet to ramp up to allow the wrecker to drive off the trailer. I have some 6X8s I am thinking about cutting up for steps or he suggested just...
Wrecker was loaded today and is on the way, should be here Wed. or Thrusday. Driver was not too happy with GL they had estimated an hour to load him, he got there at 7:30am he left loaded at 11:30.

Kwai:
looks like you hit it on the head, mine has the same type racks with room for a genset in the center of the trailer! Can you take a few pics of the other sides and interior of the trailer for me?
Thanks,
James G.
I have a lot more photos but I will have to find them. I also have the 3kW genset that goes with the trailer, and the rig looks good behind my 6217.

(WORKING NOW)
WIll the bottom spreader bar on a 10,000 winch substitute for the bar on a Lu4? I know the length may be a little more but are they the same diameter and thread?
Thanks,
James G.
So even on a newly purchased vehicle you have to take ownership and then have it inspected in your state of residence and then apply for a SF97?
James G.
I am going to call on my wrecker on Monday but does anyone know do I have to pay GL extra for the SF97 or do they issue them now with the truck as part of the $601 fee I already am paying to GL on the truck?
