Just remember that you are compressing a rotor and spreading a drum. Put a hole in the wrong place and when you hit the brakes hard the drum will come apart.

Once it is all together it is impossible to see the center pin. There is really nothing to see anyway, a straight bolt through the springs.
Have someone follow you again but have two people in that vehicle. Do it on a two or better, three lane highway. While they are following you should be in...
I have been a diesel mehanic for many years, I am not going to step into the middle of this debate but I can assure you that you are not going to get 30 MPG. Your comment about rolling smoke and getting good mileage doing it is a contradiction. You and I both know that when you are rolling smoke...
You say your cost was 2.00 because you sell hardware? We need to talk!!!!! U-bolts are a lot more that that wholesale and center pins are about 8.00 each wholesale. Can you set me up with a set at that price? We are talking automotive hardware correct? The center pins are grade 8 with a round...
Sorry, The reason I said that is because I am familiar with the GM system and not real familiar with the Cummins. I would offer that you replace the solenoid on a GM because there are other things tied into it. The Cummins I do not know the shut down system but I have had problems with shut down...
That is your tank drain. I like how in all of your fabrication you are not welding to the frame, very smart.[thumbzup] What is the connection in the center of the rear shock mounting?

I read all the way to here before I realized that this was a truck that had been highly modified with an engine and trans swap. It might be nice to let people know this before asking for help for a vehicle we all think is stock.

It is a 25 year old vehicle that has not had very good maintenance. Take it from there.
I know some of you will jump and say the military takes very good care of there vehicles. BS.! I live on the ranges of a base and I see the condition of these vehicles. Run them till the die and then get a...
Splitting your signal into 240 inches of antenna will send your reflected signal off the scale. You will have little or no signal. If you want to run dual antenna's then you need a matched set with the proper amount of cable. The antenna need to be at least 8 feet apart if I remember correctly...
10 miles on 400 watts? I got a consistent 200 miles on 200 ways. I can attest to the fact that the FCC does not like linears. They were a lot more lenient back then.

I have a Cobra 29 that I bought at least twenty years ago. Works great. I just dug it out the other day and still works great. As far as I am concerned CB is dead as a useable comm devise unless you want to learn some new and interesting phrases in another language. As was mentioned a good...
Did you take all of the U-bolts off of both sides? If so you obviously are not listening to us. It was mentioned on several occasions to measure first. It was also mentioned by me to do one side at a time so you do not have a loose axle to deal with. If you have all of the u-bolts off you better...
OK, I have the pictures in my album on here but I don't know how to make them visible in a post from there. Am I going to have to upload them again from the computer directly to the post?
Rick
What Barrman is saying is correct but do the measurements at the axle housing inside of the steering knuckle. This is because ANY streering difference from center will give a long one side/ short the other reading. Axle housing to axle housing will be accurate. Keep in mind ANY difference will...
Still working on pictures, some are a little out of focus due to wrong camera settings but I will get the better ones up this evening. Been real busy at work and just crashing when I get home.

It takes a LOT of force to bend a frame! A **** of a lot more than a forklift picking it up. If the frame were bent from the forklift it would have had to jam the truck against something, like a building. I think you would see evidence of that, like smashed flat! I seriously doubt your frame is...
You will need to jack it up, remove the lower shock attachment and then the u-bolts and then you can lower the axle from the spring. If there is any question then I would take it to an alignment shop first. Might save you a lot of work. As was mentioned the track width is different front to back...
I don't know the specs right off the top of my head but it is real tight. If you use a 1/2 drive ratchet and pull as hard as you can you are close. That condidtion is usually caused by the spring center bolt shearing because of loose u-bolts. Be sure to check the center bolt.
