    New Member needs help!

On the altinator question yes you could put a later 24V military altinator on the truck, but the electrical would not be a easy hook-up. The Army did make a kit for duces and 5 tons and I suppose it would work on the M37, but I have no idea where to find the kit.

    M35A1 unit markings

The hood number is basically your trucks serial number or registration number. The unit markings have me baffled. Since it ends with BN which usually means battalion I'm thinking your truck belonged to a HQ, but I have no clue what 3 COS is or what 85 MT is.

Has anyone dealt with New Life Canvas?

RE: canvas I've heard nothing but good things about Newlife. The only bad thing I've heard is that she is backed up so it takes a while to get your order. Probably some bugs she has to work out.

    Plastic tarp repair

RE: repair If you want to restitch them there is a tool called a stitching awl. It is basically an awl with a spool of thread on it. It allows you to stitch the part like a sewing machine just your doing the machine part. They are used by leather workers and canvas places all the time...

add on value of a box van (communications)

The only value I see in them is if you do community service type work like citizen corps or ARC then you might have a need for a mobile command post or EOC. For collectors the only advanatge one would have over the cargo truck is you have the start of a really cool camper.

    found a v17a/mtq........how rare?

Not in too bad of shape. Looks like it will be a good (maybe frustrating) restoration. Good score! I like the different and obscer MV myself.

New memebr, first day with M37, questions

A picture of your new ride would be nice for those of us who like to look at such things.... :) As for the history of your truck you can take some 400 grit sand paper and on the left and right ends of the front bumper start sanding lightly taking a layer of paint off at a time. (this is time...
