This is not a 'for sale' add.. this is a do a favor for SS members post!
I am making a run to a place that is chock full of 275Gal IBC totes. Had food coloring or ink or something in them. They have lids and valves.. good condition.
My trailer can fit 3, I need two... if there is a 'demand'...
I just found this... 55gallon plastic sealed barrels for $12!!!!!!!!!!
55 Gallon Plastic Barrels (Drums) / Rain Barrels / Compost Barrels
Picking some up.. since they are white seeing how full they are should not be an issue with black oil.
How do you know you are not lifting the internal bypass and shooting dirty oil right past the element? A cartridge filter (if it has a bypass) an easily be monitored on the pressure side. If pressure never builds (after use) then you may have put a hole in the element.
I filter through three...
I know a few ppl that would snap that truck up in a heartbeat.
I'd e-bay it with a reserve of $2500. Get the motor running and its a $3500 truck.
Its complete... but would need a LOT of cab work.
Your truck has to meet the original manufacturers safety equipment. If your truck originally has no running lights, then they cannot make you put them on. Thats the way it works... but some mechanics have power (and money) trips and will not let it pass unless it meets THEIR made up standards...

Do I get brownie points for 'enforcing the rules'?
original harnesses were wrapped in tape.... so it can be an original. The cloth braiding took way to much time and skill, so they were taped:
2.2.2 Wiring harnesses
GPW wiring consisted of lacquered, cotton insulated wire assembled into harnesses wrapped with shiny black harness tape. The...
How do you tell when a water separator is 'full'? Most of the water filters I have seen are solid with no indicators.
Oil can get wicked hot before it will burn... so other than having a huge turkey fryer it seems safe from a blow you up and kill you point of view. Plus the extra complexity...
The craigslist ads paid off. $40 for 150 gallons of oil (or an oil like substance... 3 barrels) and I still have more to get. They had hydraulic oil in 5 gallon jugs... I only wanted the barreled stuff for my first outing.
I have about 4 SOLID leads for WMO in PA and MD. If anyone wants the...
I thought of immersion heaters.. I see them at WWII Events but they are very hands on devices.
I am going to keep looking for an electrical element and thermostat.... the barrel blankets are to much $$$ and I know that someone has to have done this before.
I believe the question of 'or compatible carb' needs answered. I mentioned the 28AV11, but there are several of the 28AV series that will work with somewhat reduced power (smaller jets/venturi)
The Carter W-1 used on the Chevy will work (thats what my CCKW had on it). The air cleaner will fit...
I just cleaned out my buckets and looked in the filters.. they are doing their job... there is about 1/2 inch of tar like goo in the filter bags.. seems I may have had some sludge in the my catch bucket.
I have 3 55 gallon barrels of oil to pick up tomorrow... with any luck they will be water...
OR compatible carb.
To me that's a question, which I answered.. but since the forum patrol may not have read that I will leave it as a homework assignment to find out what IS a compatible carb.
The original poster did not know.
Maybe if you gentlemen (used loosely) would contribute rather...
The 275 gallon steel reinforced plastic totes are all over.. I am going to call about 2 of them tomorrow.
I agree that simply pumping oil to my container is the best way to go.. I have a trailer that will fit 1 (275gal x 8lbs/gal = 2200lbs) and a hoist that will do a ton.. so moving a tote...
PA has not given me any hassles... they have antique and classic plates and lifetime registration and and no inspections for either.
I had to get a title for for my 43 CCKW and it was painless (expensive and took some time.. but was painless).
