I have to add that the folks that are going with GulfWay, Hagerty, etc they are COLLECTORS or ANTIQUE policies. That means some severe restrictions. Even if you only drive it once or twice a month that still means NO CARGO, people or otherwise.
I have State Farm, and pay less that $200 a...
Really grasping at straws to cling to the GL-5 is bad for you myth?
The statement was that GL-5 is the cause for the gear to fail, and they redesigned the gear several times... but that mean old GL-5 simply will not lubricate the gear as well as GL-1 did.
BULL HOCKEY.
Unless you have some...
MT-1 is the 'Yellow Metal Safe' designation.
It actually means 'Manual Transmission' Spec number 1. Really.
GL-5 has been yellow metal safe for decades. Originally there was an issue with water, sulphur and heat above 250F. Any tranny/transfer with an operating temp above 250F requires...
You should reread his post:
" GL-5 is not adequately lubricating the 2nd gear's bearing when the truck is going fast in 5th gear. The gear has been modified a couple of times to improve things, as evidenced by the variety of differently designed gears found in actual transmissions, but it...
Trust me this is not unique to the East Coast show.
My idea to a couple of people who were trying to keep events 'alive' till Sunday was to withhold a deposit till Sunday noon. If you want your deposit back, you stayed. If not, you left Sat night. The money not claimed on Sunday was...
Your FL Tech instructor is not up to speed. He knows whats in his little instructors book. Has be looked up that laws in the other 49 States? Or simply scaring you into staying into the course so he gets paid? I can tell you he is dead wrong for PA.
In the MAJORITY of States you need to...
Beijing Sidecar - Custom
"WWII restoration details: We have it all. Engine guards, shock covers, jerry cans in two sizes, light cover, double stacked wheels, pannier boxes, shovels, etc. You can order kits for restoration or have a complete Chang Jiang WW II bike made according to your...
A good gathering point for folks more N or west of Philly is the junction of 222 and 283. Feeders in from Harrisburg and Reading.
Plus since most of it is not Interstate highway, you have much more to look at, places to stop and if there is a breakdown local towns. 95 is a fast highway, but...
Is it fair that new wipers and blades for an M35 can cost $80+ There isn't $8 worth of metal and rubber....
Is it fair that places sell cargo cover kits for $500+?
Is it fair that that winch 'kits' are $1500+ when you can buy a complete running truck for less than that?
Is it fair that...
Another whine about GL... wow...
If $60 bothers you then how hard are you going to cry when you have to fill it with diesel and the 'evil' oil companies take all your money?
What about the cost of tools to maintain the vehicles? Is Snap-On or Craftsman going to charge you less?
Must burn through the clutches with all that crap in tow.
Are there any photographs actually showing such a setup?
I've seen photos of jeeps towing 2-4 1/4ton trailers.. but not many motorcycle-ammo cart-ammo cart-PAK combos.
Chang jiang 750 M1
They use the same tooling.. so other than some minor rework and paint you would have to be almost an expert to tell the difference.
I see almost a dozen Chanj-Jiangs at every WWII event I go to. Will be at one on Fri/Sat and I get at least 2 show up.
Like kubelwagons there...
IFTA is not a tax.
There are fuel taxes.
If you drive in PA, but fuel up in NJ, PA would not get any fuel tax because you paid it all in NJ.
IFTA forces you to record how many miles you drive in each state and how much/where you bought fuel. It then 'reconciles' your 'account' to spread the...
In PA: Make sure you read the part about refusal at the bottom...

(c) Dyed diesel fuel not to be used on public highways.--
(1) A person may not operate a motor vehicle on the public highways of this...
You agree to all sorts of things the you are not aware of as a condition to operating a vehicle on public roads.
Read this:
http://www.revenue.state.il.us/LegalInformation/Hearings/mf/MF07-6.pdf
Its been scrubbed of personal info... but I can't see it being vastly different in the other states.
"presence of dye of 1.4 parts per million"..."
Yeah, there IS.
You have some work to do.
1: PROVE that the dye was not there, they made a mistake and you are innocent.
2: pay the fine
3: post on SS that you never knew/broke the law
If you can prove that the Military can/does use dyed...
I have seen brass makers plates (not really data plates) for shop vans. A lot of canons/artillery also have cast brass plates.
They would be more for the shop van, not the chassis which would still be Yellow Coach and Cab, or later General Motors.
I bet yours looks like...
If you could post pics of the data plate that would be cool.
Brass data plates were also not officially used on production trucks (tin and zinc are all that's documented).
In 1942 closed cabs would still be in production and readily available.
Its entirely possible that its they did cobble...
Most (even the modern) tactical trucks are designed with 35-45 MPH off road speeds. At those speeds you really don't need a lot of HP (the hp required to double your speed is hp squared).
Brakes are the next weak spot. Again, the faster you go, the more braking ability you need.
Just think...
