Ah, there it is. Thanks. Was set to eastern -5GMT, with DST set to auto. Turned DST to off instead, and the earth has stopped spinning so fast. I hoped it wasn't because I botched the top of the Tardis salt shaker, left it off, and time was leaking out.
Ah, you may be on to it. I did recently print a salt shaker model of the Tardis with my new 3D printer. Must have perturbed the space/time thingy-whatsit.
Anyone else noticing posts showing 1hr ahead of eastern time?
Sorry, no hope. That FL sun and the salty sea air are gonna eat it up. Best to just let me take it off your hands and bring it to the cool mountains of NH, or the dryness of the NM desert where it will be preserved in perpetuity. :)
Either the site time zone is off/incorrect, or my profile setting has me in Nova Scotia. Currently in MS with a local time of 0940, but SS posts are showing as 1140. DST? :-?
No biggie, just wondering.
New and shiny? Blasphemy!! The 601 is no stinkin staff car. :hammer:
But Dewey is due for a buffing out before Weare. I rubbed out the oxidized paint in a couple of spots and the original strata blue gleamed through. She's a looker...unlike WARHAG.
Next poll, should WARWAG be banned for...
Foul, I say, FOUL!! :soapbox: How could the 601 not win? An obvious bias against true-blue strata blue!
And to think what I had to do to get the votes I got. Now I gotta marry WARWAGs ugly sister, WARHAG. aua
At least another KRISTI owner won. [thumbzup]
Ahh, a man of distinction and a true connoiseur of rare locomotion. You have cast your vote for what may be one of only ten still in existence; a forgotten cold warrior of the ice and snow. You have earned your place amongst the Order of the Blue Icicle.
Jumpin catfish, no votes for the 601 yet? And to think I was going to introduce everyone that voted for my 601 to my snowcat mechanic...
But I guess I'll just post a link to more details, pictures, and videos of the 601...
In the realm of smaller tracked vehicles (not armored), here are the ups and downs of military snow cats.
Downs
1. Can't drive them down paved roads without the local road department getting pissy. The metal cleats and ice spikes tend to chink the pavement.
2. 25MPH is considered really fast...
A few people have asked me where they can get a Yukon. I've only found one for sale online, and it ain't cheap (update: and now it's gone). So here is an alternative...
A company called Kni-Co Manufacturing sells a line of what appear to be almost Yukon clones, except no liquid burner. However...
Tried her on diesel yesterday. I think there is still between 1/4 and 1/3 left in the jerry can after running for 36hrs+, varying output from a flicker to is-that-a-blast-furnace?!?!?

Currently one smoke and two carbon monoxide detectors in sisters house. An equally important safety concern is ensuring an adequate fresh air supply to replace what is consumed by the heater/stove. One rule of thumb I've heard is 2" per 1,000BTUs (from my Camco Wave 3 manual), but that seems...
The Yukon comes with a set of telescoping exhaust pipes; great for compact storage and standalone operation, not so great for adding off-the-shelf parts. The lower exhaust pipe that attaches to the stove is 5" in diameter, and the next 4 pieces reduce by about 1/4" per section until just under...
Little sister lives in a single-wide, a nice one, but a mobile home nonetheless. Generally not a place for a wood stove. There is an unheated room added to one side of the mobile home, and that seemed the best place for the stove. The room has a lot of windows/glass, and would otherwise not be...
Oh so many moons ago, this airman was sequestered to northern Alaska, on the side of a mountain, in not much more than a portable meat locker. Quietly keeping tabs on Ivan and other ne'er-do-wells, 'feasting' on LRPs, counting the days until the return of the Jolly Green, and listening to the...
I seem to unexpectedly find myself in town this week and weekend, so I can be there. I'm on the other side of the river in the Enchanted Hills subdivision. No rolling stock here, but I can tell tales, both true and less than true.
