    M813's still in use?

I was coming back from our monthly Saturday morning breakfast when I ran across two M813 trucks both pull M149 Water buffalo trailers. They were not privately owned vehicles but active guard trucks. Anyone have any info on still active M800 series trucks? And no pics as they were on the...

    M936 rear winch sear pin

The shear pins are designed to protect the rest of the winch drive line parts once the maximum load is exceeded. While their breakage is usually un-timely, they're doing what the were designed for, acting as a "fuse/circuit breaker" for the winch. Until 2 years ago I'd never broken a shear...

    Jerry can repairs

The Scepter cans are plastic and are rated for diesel, gasoline and water. Scepters also go for close to $50 a pop. The local Craigslist has 1 Jerry can advertised for $25 but it's 40 miles away. I purchased a 12 pack of NATO cans from Coleman's a few years back, but since I'm hoarding...

    Jerry can repairs

Cans aren't cheap any longer. I've been on a Jerry can buying spree as of late. Cans on a popular auction site are going for $35 avg. with another $20 freight. Thanks to CARB, cheap Jerry cans are a thing of the past.

    Virginia State Inspections

Your going to have all of the lights checked, (also the transmission shifter indicator lamp) tire condition and tread depth, lug nuts all present, no leaking shocks, front end tight, no broken or clouded glass, all door handles operational, window cranks functional. And you'll be required to...

8/11/12 - Breakfast in Eldersburg, Maryland

I'm in. They've loaded me up with work, again, but I'm protesting and only working 40 hrs. Never put off for tomorrow what you can put off today.

    NEW FL. MK48s

Wreckerman, Unless they are watching you like a hawk, there are drinks and snacks available at the Honeywell building. My first time on Blount, I took a wrong turn and ended up exiting via a US Customs check point. The first Customs officer I enclountered spoke NO English. He couldn't...

    NEW FL. MK48s

I see the Honeywell folks haven't changed since my last visits two years back. One Honeywell guy was great to deal with, while the other pointed to the line on the pick-up form as-is where is and walked away. Watch out for the Honeywell mandatory meetings. The three diffsernt people that...

    Led Taillight

Ground the wire with the ring on it to one of the light mounting bolts. The LED lights require a seperate ground wire. Inside of the light there is a pin out of the lights wiring.

Just make one from a piece of 3/8" fuel line metal tubing and attach a piece of rubber hose to the end.

    Calculating MPG with new Math

I'd say that if your speedo and gps jive, which they do by the numbers you posted, you're doing very good on fuel. I wouldn't complain about 10+ mpg on a 13,000+ lb. truck one bit. My dually Ford with the 6.8 V-10 only gets 12 mpg highway with no load and it weighs half of what a deuce weighs.

    Hitch-Bolster trailer

The M796 bolster trailer weighs 5900 lbs. Unless you have a way to hook up the brakes, I wouldn't tow it on its own wheels. Make sure to release the two parking brake handles. The trailer moves rather easily, so you shouldn't have a problem moving it onto your gooseneck. You need a 12,000...

    stripping paint from gauges??

Depending on the plastic used on the gauge face, DOT 3 brake fluid will remove CARC paint from the face without hazing the lense. Acetone will have no effect of cured CARC. The only other fluid that I know of that will remove CARC is Skydrol (a phosphated ester solution). A cotton swab...

I love the Deuce and so do the Girls.

Looks like the girls had more camo on them than the trucks did. :-) Glad to hear you had a good time.

    M35A2 Turn Signal Flasher Repair...

If the sealant was being used as a vibration reduction compound, then some good choices would be DC 732 or 3145. Momentive RTV 102 (two part) would be a very good choice. If it was used as a dielectric compound I'd suggest using an acrylic conformal coating over an epoxy or silicone coating as...

    Who Bought Those Oshkosh MK-48s???

If these trucks are coming out of the Blount Island base, GL had a contract with Raytheon to provide on-base service. GL had no presence on base. You might wish to call GL to find out if the same arraignments still exist since this will complicate the multiple vehicle removal. Recovry 4x4...

    M116A3 Weight Distribution

You don't mention if your trailer has the loaded data plate or not, but here is the plate from my A3. Just make sure that you have atleast 250 pounds of tongue weight and you're golden.

Anyone in Pa near 17111 zip?

Chris, I'm headed up to Mechanicsburg Thursday to help my buddy pick up some rifle racks and other items that won't fit into his truck. Will have M101 half empty. PM if needed.

Maryland MV owners are in trouble

Unless they have put some teeth into the law, there was no fine for using a historic vehicle for daily transportation. There also was no provision for removing the historic designation from the vehicle. Just another money grab for the State of Maryland. Here is the Maryland histroic and...
