I posted that pic mostly for its design. It's a M243 trailer of 2 ton capacity and was part of the fire control system for a missile unit. The trailer in pic #4 is a much larger, heavier design from the Nike systems. It's an XM261 that belongs to crazyplowboy on this site.
The deck length if...
"Off road capable" covers a very large area. Water crossings. Often requires a need for ground clearance. Would need loading ramps as a beavertail trailer would facilitate getting hung up. Built heavy enough to carry your load at the lightest weight possible. Tough to find ready made.

This motor was bought by a friend. Clean, dry can for it and all the plugs in all the holes.
Pulled the pan and found pieces of #7 piston. It had a window in #7's cylinder...
Standard equipment in civilian 1987 K5 with the diesel engine was the 4 speed automatic/overdrive.
If it runs good offer him $600 and go from there for it as parts vehicle. Likely to have either 3.42 or 3.73 gears also.
There were no C/K trucks in 1987. The squarebody trucks switched to R/V in 1987 through 1991. The new light truck platform took the C/K designation in 1988.
If the 5th digit in the vin is a "D" it was built for the military.
All the other issues could have just been the result of swapped parts over the years.
The 12.50 XL's look great on this truck.
I run 1100 XZL's on mine. I appreciate the the higher speed rating and their diameter help all my 1100 equipped trucks reach their 65mph limit on the freeways.

Easiest way for me is that I have the manuals for the duece downloaded into my deuce manuals file. Manuals for the 5 tons in another separate file. Another file for miscellaneous TM manuals.

Pages from a 1980 and the1988 owners manual from my NP205 equipped V30 pictured below. The NP205's were always referred to as "conventional four wheel drive".
