Joe, Tim, Bruce,
Thanks for all the HELP!!!
Now that I have my headspace and timing corrected, I will work on other items found NMC as I attempted to fix this "issue".
I have also buried the location of the secret switch in my backyard under the dogs food bowl, in case anyone's interested...
Joe,
If I showed you the secret switch I'd have to buy another 09 and then I'd be signing divorce papers.....
It does have a big red sign on it stating "DO NOT PUSH or PULL" ....
Tim,
This was truely an exercise in futility, like a 10 mile forced march in a circle, glad it's over but pissed...
And now the final chapter.....
I forgot to mention the alarm installed on the truck.....
I had disconnected the alarm and thought I had bypassed all of it's "features", apparently NOT!!!
I checked the diode, it acted correctly. I got 60+ ohms or so and confirmed that the wire was still good...
Tim,
I am getting 24v at relay. I can jump across relay and start truck, once running, everything seems to be acting right. there is no voltage at ppl/wht wire at relay in start position.
I need to tear dash cluster back off and just start testing circuits for voltage...
Stock rims will fit 33's, ask Barrman. I think he's running those on his 09.
I put 33x12.5x15's on mine with a 4.5 inch backspace. The fronts stick out enough so the truck won't fit on my trailer without putting stock tire back on front. BUMMER....
I like the look, but am considering going back...
Well it's actually raining in Kingwood tonight, so the electrical issue will be put on hold for another day......
WE NEED THE RAIN!!!!
Bummed but o.k., just gives me more time to read through the TM's
1833 great choice on the "NEW" CUCV what a different vehicle from the other CUCV......rofl
You're afflicted with the bug, just admit it. You need the 12 step approach and unfortunately I just sold my manual for a warm bottle of beer, or I'd lend it to you.
Seriously, these are 25 year old...
motor is a 6.2L, "J" code, 83 - 85
Any good parts guys can take it from there
The CUCV WIKI may have the rest of the details, THe TM's will definitely have the info.
Use the -20P or -34P to find GM numbers and have parts guy do cross to Fel-Pro or whatever brand you prefer.
before you button it...
I'm running TOYO OPEN COUNTRY M/T's 33x12.5x15 on mine. Did a 4 inch lift for clearance, but my rims have a 4.5 inch back spacing. They just hang right under the fenderwells. It's a random daily driver, so the tire wear is a minimal issue. I can say, with the 4 wheel drive working(don't ask) I...
And the SAGA continues....
Picked up the new ignition switch on way home.
I decided to tackle the job tonight, just couldn't wait for the fun!!!!
No problem while reading the TM....
Disconnected the batteries..... Let the fun begin.
Took the dash cluster off.
dropped the steering wheel, found...
come on warthog, we all knows its a book.
but I haven't figured out what its good for other than keeping the lid on the outhouse propped open.
and swattin mosquitos
O.K. got it.
I'm picking up or ordering an Ignition Switch tonight on way home. I've done an ignition switch on Son's '74 Blazer, so not a stranger, but will have to find time to drop steering column this weekend, if work - play doesn't get in the way. I may try to clean switch and toy with it...
Maybe you could find an old Gen II blazer top.(Full convertible and mock up the cuts before cutting. I have one from my sons '74, not for sale, but could give you and idea how it attaches if your interested.
I love the full convertible blazer, his has a factory roll bar behind front seats that...
I'm still good with BVORR, but would like to get to the other side of the trails. Each time we've been there it's been fenced off. Maybe I'll bring the fourwheelers next time to do a little scouting pre trail ride time.
I like the location, like the people, like the town WHOOP, just maybe change...
Thanks Tim, I actually have an old piece of carpet I lay down on for the "dying roach position"
So here's where I am tonight.
I checked voltage at yellow wire with ignition switch in Start, no voltage. I rechecked ALL fuses with ohm meter, just to make sure I don't have one that looks good, but...
Thanks JOE !!!
I'm going to tackle this thing tonight when I get home.
I have not checked for voltage on the yellow wire, but since I have the buzzer, wait light and gen., oil lights on, I presume the switch is still good, unless the yellow wire energizes after all that happens... It's possible...
