I thought mine was broken too. It will not kick on with just idling and casual driving. You need to really WORK the truck to have it kick on. Put a load on it.
It makes sense now Chris. When I recieved the truck, everything was disconnected from the tranny including the drivesaft thrown in the back of the bed. The tranny was on held on by3 bolts to the motor. Also the cover plate for the PTO access area on the side of the tranny was on only hand...

Naturally when I got my M936A2, someone had made sure to liberate the vise off the front bumper. I assume the M816 had the same vise as the M936. Anyone has a lead on some military vises for the wreckers?
