I've got water heater and the pump with about 100 feet of quick dis-connect hoses.
Going thru Front Royal / Winchester (I-81) next Saturday for visit at the folks house down by Staunton VA.
The failure mode appears to be the interface between the silicone rubber seal and the adhesive.
What you need is a self priming silicone adhesive or a silicone primer.
Since your seal is red in color, RTV-106 would be a good choice for the silicone adhesive. McMaster-Carr sells RTV-106 as...
Looks like you had some unloading help when you got home.
The only issue I encountered when I did the same recovery two weeks ago was that the trailers rocked side to side a little on rough roads.
The folks at Blount never said anything about cameras, so I grabbed a couple of shots of the...
ida34,
I read the Sherwin Williams data sheet but I think they are incorrect in the terminology used.
Attached is the mil-spec for this material. You will find no references to moisture being needed or wanted for cure.
The previous version of the mil-spec required you to use Mil-T-81772...
Chris,
When we performed Mil-Spec soldering, the only solder flux that was allowed was RMA flux. RMA stands for Rosin, mildly activeted.
Clean up is with alcohol and is a breeze.
Here is the link to Digikey for both the flux and the self adhesive heat shrink.
Heat shrink with...
The single component CARC, Mil-DTL-53039, does not need moisture to cure. It will react to moisture and create carbon dioxide gas.
The new three part CARC, (base, catalyst, water) Mil-DTL-64159, uses water that is mixed into the paint to act as a thinner as well as to aid in the cure process...
KsM715,
Rumplecat already stated that the trailer that GL gave him was a lot that was defaulted on. Not saying it's correct, but I guess that GL figured that if he filed a claim, that they would be paying a whole lot more in mileage and time than just finding another trailer to his liking...
How much trouble did you have lifting the lunette off the pintle?
My receovery involved a loaded laundry unit and I had over 1200 lbs of tongue weight. 52 MPH was also the magic number which I encountered.
These trailers fishtail over 52 mph due to the short length and the wheels being...
Happy to hear that you didn't have any major issues pulling the trailer. They do pull heavy don't they?
You did real good with getting the second spare tire. Interested in selling it?
I imagine a day in the not too distant future where GL is going to be sued for their gloss neglience with...
That would be correct.
The way that the generator is located on the laundry unit precludes you from viewing the oil pressure gauge. There are three large sound panels located 4 inches of so from the generator side and no access from the top also because of 3 more of the sound panels...
That MEP-003a would have been removed from a laundry unit and possibly rebuilt. Look for a tag on the control box for rebuild date.
The location of the oil pressure gauge mounted to the front of the control panel is a dead give away. The standard location is on the right side near the front of...
I give you an "A" for effort, but please wear a dust mask if nothing else when spraying.
As much as you might attempt staying down wind from the spray you will breath some of the solvents and the paint solids into your lungs.
It's too bad that there is not a system in place to rate your experience with Government Liquidation as a seller like EBay has in place. If there were one, GL would have to have all of their sales monies going into an escrow account until the customer was satisfied.
Is GL going to pay interest...
Drop the tailgate, wrap a chain thru the trailer lunette and that chain to a tree on a grassy area. Pull forward slowly until the lunette is on the ground then drop the clutch on your truck and let the trailer fall the 4-5 feet to the ground.
That would be his "M818 w/w and 1600's Hell yea!
A few m105's.
and a shop full of junk!"
I think that under the new policy of vehicle replacement we might see these trucks in 12 or so years instead of 20 plus years.
I wonder what that push bumper with the Bow Tie logo cost us tax payers?
Diesel Bob,
In picture # 2 if you look to the left you will see another batch of trailers soon to come to auction.
There must have been 2 dozen M116 trailers and even more M101a3's being stagged for auction.
Finding the Blount Island location was very easy as it was a straight shot...
Ken,
Originally I was going to post this to the inspection needed thread and decided to make a clean start.
I did not take pics of the generator strapped on the trailer as I had my hands full when my Dad decided to let go of the generator without saying anything.
My Dad is the one...
Blount Island M101a3 and M116 recovery.
On Wednesday September 17, 2009, my EUC was approved to pickup a couple of trailers that I purchased from Government Liquidation. I planned on calling the BlountIsland location sometime on Thursday afternoon, but Jackie from GL Blount called me before I...
