I dropped the oil out of the transfer case and transmission, and as you would suspect, the oil in the transfer was watery.
The pump sits high on the right side of the transfer case and a large tube comes from the bottom of the TC to the pump.
I will replace the oil in both with 80-90w,.
Question...
Popacom, Throw one in with everything else and get it coming. Lets pass on the big stuff for now, I can get a drivers seat at a later date. What did you need from me in the way of M-715 shackles, ect. ???? Thanks, Tom
Just tore out the brake master cylinder, does anyone know the common kit # for the overhaul ? ?
Aso, did the Goats always use Dot 5 silocone, or would it hopefully be labeled as to what it used ? ?
Thanks Popacom, I have one other outfit to get back too, and if nothing comes up there, I will get ahold of you.
Yes, we are Snake River 4x4 Just working on our personal collection.
After talking around to TNJ Murry and Riv-Rad, someone said that there may have been problems with the reverse linkage and that they have seen several machines come in with the reverse linkage removed.
Has anyone encounted this, or is there a modification that came be made ? ? ?
I just got off the phone with Riv Rad, and he did not have any bows. What I need is - I have two bows and it looks like they would not be that hard to copy. Of course the one bow goes in the pipe fitting at the back of the cab, but hwere and how does the 2nd box attach ? ? ?
Does anyone...
Seems to me that the rear axle housings are about 8" or 4" on either side with the same size of times.
I have owned 2 of them and have had to strip them down and put on normal rims and 11:00 tires.
The local DOT roving check station has a fit when they come through, wondering how in the ****...
A friend and I both bought dump trucks out of the NG in Utah in Dec. We wanted to haul them togeather and split the freight.
He had purchased more recently than I and his EUC cleared within 2 weeks.
I had not purchased for more than a year and still waiting.
They say they want stuff out of...
Since I started this thread, I wll try to wind it down. The above quote sums up the situation I was getting into with the 14 similar trucks.
I appreciate all of your input.
I guess the only thing that makes me madder is to go to an oral auction and have you mind set on one item. They...
I have been on this merry-go-round several times before. This will be my 6th M-800 series truck.
I do agree with the theroy of throwing out your highest bid and walking away.
However in this case, I wanted to go home with a truck. This looked to be a "fleet reduction-sellout" in Utah with...
I just (dec 17, 2009) purchased one of the 14 dump trucks in Utah. I am very upset after putting up with the 15 minute rule.
The counter actually got down to "0" when it reset with a higher bid and a 14 minute extension. Soooooooo you sit and wait and of course someone bids again and extends...
I picked up the first batch of troop seat brackets. $75.00 per side for 2 brackets and the center support.
I have not done a jump seat as of yet.

With my limited experience, I assume that the most common problem with an 800 series transfer case is the in ability to get into high gear.
I am told that there is a fork and a syncro that go bad.
BOYCE says that they want $2500.00 exchange for a rebuilt transfer.
Is there a less expensive way...
I have not been watching, but what have decent M-817 dump trucks been selling for lately from GovLiq ? ?
A lot have been down in Mississippi and freight always plays a big part in a truck purchase.
THe last M-813's I bought were for around $4,000 down in Barstow.
