    XM-778 2 1/2 ton Cargo Truck, W/W

I googled ConDeco trucks...no joy...any linkys? I know the "Land Trains" had electric motors in each wheel and were powered by a turbine generator.

M915a1 vs. M352a2 for Hauling logs

Unless you add air conditioning you will roast in the summer in your neck of the woods. And the spring ride is akin to riding in a goat cart down a railroad track. You will feel every expansion joint on a concrete road. I have driven a M915 from Fort Benning, GA to the NTC at Fort Irwin, CA...

    Hidden deuce finds

The first deuce I ever bought from GL came out of Fort Jackson, SC. It had a "Redneck Gun Turret" made out of a 55 gallon drum with a locking ring sticking out of the hard top. It was packed with Basic Issue Items to the point where they had filled the OVM box and had put a bunch of stuff in...

M915a1 vs. M352a2 for Hauling logs

I sold my last M915 to a logger that said he was going to make a pull out truck out of it. I told him it didn't have all wheel driver but he said with the inter-axle differential lock it would work fine. As long as you stay out of gumbo mud that would stick just about anything you would be OK...

    M48?

I had my M275 for sale but I think I'm going to keep it and do a restoration on it. Someone left a running deuce engine with turbo (mine is NA) in my yard and I'm considering commandeering it and doing a swap.

    XM-778 2 1/2 ton Cargo Truck, W/W

David was editing the monthly magazine of the MVPA. You might call the main office and see if they will give you his contact info.

Need some hive collective knowledge re: M35a3.

They were "Frankentrucks" that were designed by idiots after consulting with morons. Slower than a regular deuce. Uglier than a red headed stepchild. Anything with a yaller motor in it is a prospective money pit. Some of the parts are made of "unobtainum" and cost a war pension. Get a real...

    Bridging Truck

A few years ago GL had a butt load of them for sale at some base in CA. The were all gassers and looked almost new. I figured they were war stocks that had been ratholed for years and someone finally got around to doing the paperwork to surplus them out. If they had not been so far away I would...

    Mack RD822sx

Driving a Mack is like kissing your sister.....you're fine as you only do it once in a while and you don't start to enjoy it too much.

915A1 Turn Signals Not Working. Please Help if Possible.

If I remember correctly the switch for the M915 is a common one and is a available at NAPA. If that is your issue you can remove it and take it with you to match it up with what they have in stock. I think it crosses over to one that fits a civilian Jeep.

    M923: mudding or not?

In the military these vehicles traveled in herds. If one got stuck it's fellow trucks would all get together and pull it out. They are actually easier to get stuck when empty due to lack of ballast for traction. My M927A2 has never been stuck because I have never taken it where it could get...

Official '15 Ga. Rally Info thread

I think I read a post from PopPop that said he can't make it due to the date change. He was the grit and syrup connection.

how to plumb a civilian air braked truck to flat tow with brakes like military does

Since commercial tow companies that do heavy duty work have to do this all the time I'd ask an expert.

Fuel filter keeps getting clogged on m923a2

There was a batch of these trucks that came from the factory with fuel tanks that had a coating that was soluble in diesel fuel (never forget you equipment was built by the lowest bidder:cookoo:). Most of them went to upper level maint and had the tanks replaced but some may have slipped...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The 5th wheel is behind the M925 dropside bed. I got tired of pulling the trailer with a converter dolly. It's a lot easier to back like that. There is a large Goodyear Tire plant in Gadsden that has been here since the 20's. Back in the day they would haul tires from the plant to the warehouse...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I moved the modified M927A2 with the "circus wagon" in tow to the warehouse where my movie office is located. I had a lot of wardrobe items stored in there and I'm getting ready for the GA Rally. This building is 360,000 square feet divided into four sections. I rent a small office space for...
