    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Ok...... does anyone by chance know if there is a belt routing diagram in ANY of the TM's??? :shrugs: OR if there is one shown here on SS anywhere? I've been searching for over an hour... the drivers side alternator is not even close to lining up with any pulley, and I can't figure out which...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Yeah, after looking at Barrman's photos, that's what I was thinking. Yes, its obviously going to need some shorter bolts to replace the longer one's. Barrman mentioned something about wedge washers, I've been looking online, most are only in large quantities, and only 1/8" on the thick end...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Good Morning Tinstar Normally I would be right there with you. I'm just like my father, "...if its worth doing, its worth doing right..." Thats what he taught me as I was growing up, and he's still the same today. Usually if I am going to do a job, whether it is a small thing or something like...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

Hello Barrman! Just wanted to say Thank You for posting on how you were able to modify your Intake Manifold. [thumbzup][thumbzup][thumbzup] I just had to replace the heads on our M1008, which has a 6.2L engine. The new heads I bought were for a 6.5L. The problem is the company that I bought...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

THANK YOU TIM!!! [thumbzup][thumbzup][thumbzup][thumbzup][thumbzup] This is a great Help! I assume he must have drilled from the bottom (gasket side) of the manifold, using the holes as where to align the bit, then just drilled straight down? Or did he use a jig to hold it or something. I...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

I painted two intake studs orange, so they would show up better in some photos. I'm going to send these photos to the company that I bought the heads from. I know most people here on SS already know what is being discussed, but I thought I would also post these here for the few who don't...

Hummm... interesting. Never heard of those before, but not sure how it (or similar) could work for this intake. I'll have to think about it. I think you're talking about these: Link to summit: http://bit.ly/Intake-Manifold-Bushings

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Ok, now I understand, it was to fit the engine with turbo into a different vehicle. That makes more sense, as there wasn't any reason for it that I could see in the trucks. I haven't ruled out modding the intake so long as the rest of the head is the same, as in valves, pre combustion chambers...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

This is why I like SS, aside from the vast amount knowledge that is gathered here, you guys are also a good sounding board, and in situations like this, come up with much better solutions than I would. I was already planning on starting to take it back apart today. I'm going to hold off on that...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Internet Yeah, I don't like buying auto parts without seeing them in hand, but no place to buy stuff like this from around here. I emailed the company last night, haven't heard anything back yet. I know its the weekend, but I also emailed them yesterday morning about sending the cores back to...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

I am really beyond words at this moment... Tonight I thought I was finally nearly done with getting this engine back together so we could get our truck back... until I set the intake manifold on... and found that on the passenger head the intake bolt angle is apparently 60 degrees, and the...

    86' M1008 - Contemplating Chevy 350 engine swap

got the robert shaw thermostat in today... but it was the wrong part number. its a 301-180 instead of the 370-180, so I have to send it back. But from what I have seen online the 370-180 is no longer being made. So I'm going to use the AC -Delco 12TP5D for the time being. If I can find another...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

well... found out today that the vacuum pump had been capped off and disconnected from the valve on the IP. Which it also seems that the transmission hose going from the hard line to the IP was also disconnected. Have no idea why someone disconnected it though, unless the vacuum module on the...

    86' M1008 - Contemplating Chevy 350 engine swap

Thanks for the info FLU farm [thumbzup] From what I was able to find, the TH400 has a pan with 13 bolts and it looks like this: And the transmission pan on our truck looks exactly like this gasket, and also has 13 bolts. So... why would someone just disconnect the vacuum line?? Could the...

    86' M1008 - Contemplating Chevy 350 engine swap

As far as I know it is stock, it only shifts up to 3rd gear. I know it doesn't like to go over 55mph. It will go a bit more, but it drives best at 55mph. The engine and transmission have been apart, but if it was by some one or the military depot, I do not know.

    86' M1008 - Contemplating Chevy 350 engine swap

hum, ok. I'll adjust mine after I get it back up to running shape. I wonder how it worked before without the vacuum even being connected? It seemed to shift ok and such...
