The official Gimpy uniform. Tan work boots, jean shorts, and green T-shirt. I don't think I have every seen him in anything but his "official" uniform. Sweet pics. Nice truck.
The vents were designed as one way valves. They are supposed to let out air when the stuff heats up but not let stuff like water in. Most leaking axles are the result of the vent getting stuck in the closed position. It' natural position is closed so they sometimes get stuck closed. This makes...
I don't think the box on the M109 is any closer to the cab than the bed of the M35. The rearmost part of ring mount is the rear mounting legs. It should not interfere. I have first hand knowledge on installing the M66 on a M35 but not on a M109.
Thank Paul. I still need to replace that pass side fender then I can start painting the thing. I found a place to rent a big sandblaster for $150 a day. I plan to put it to use.
If you stuck a hemtt then it was really stuck. We only got a hemtt stuck once when I was a Fort Campbell. We had our M198 155mm howitzer emplaced overnight. It rained all night and in the morning our M925 five-ton would not pull the 15,500 lbs howitzer out of the firing point. It dug down to the...
I was able to get my winch back together. It was in great shape inside with not corrosion except for the mandatory rust in the brake housing. I was hoping to get the last seal I needed today. This was the PTO side worm gear seal. I was happy to find the box arrive with the mail. I was...
One of the reasons the military uses pad locks is if a key is lost you can always use the universal key (bolt cutters). I say cut them and buy new. If you want the military style locks again get the American 5200 series. The keys some with a 4 digit code. If you find two with the same code they...
The trailer is really only about 7000 lbs. If you could hook it up with a fifth wheel in the truck it would probably not be that bad except for no brakes. Not saying it would be smart but most of the fifth wheel or goose neck travel trailers are at or more than 7000 with comparable surface area...
I agree totally. My truck had had every drive line component replaced with rebuilt units but it has never been depot rebuilt. In a depot rebuild they strip the truck to the frame. All of the components are sent out and check and rebuilt or discarded. The components are then sent back to an...
This was a cucv clone. I thought maybe someone took the axles out of a M1008 but the interior is clearly not cucv and the rear bumper and pintle hitch is from a M1009 not a truck cucv. I would say someone took a M1009 and put the parts on a normal chevy 2WD truck.
We used to put our unit centaur and unit patch painted on the windshield. This helped us ID our units trucks easily. In the picture with all the canvas off, we are lining up our trucks for shipping pack to the states after Desert Storm. The yellow circle with the C was added for shipping...
Crusty,
Sound like they did reassign it to the person that bought it from GL but the poster is not the original person. They guy he bought it from has to get the title in his name with the 97 and the reassignment affidavit. The poster is the second civy owner not the original buyer.
Good deal. I started my cucv project last year about now. I still have yet to do the outside here and there. At least it has a floor now. Good luck on your project. If you need panels let me know. I have a few left over.
When does the starter start running? Is it when the big wire is connected or the small wire? The big wire should have voltage all of the time and the short wire should only have voltage when the ignition switch is on or , in your case, when the button is pushed. I would check again to make sure...
Is the cucv stock starter relay under the dash still in place? They are known to stick shut causing a starter to run till destruction. I thought you posted it had been converted to 12 volt. If so you should wire out the relay under the dash. If your starter is a 24 volt starter then the solenoid...
