Rear Axle Lift Blocks for a Bobber

Also, with the M105 bed mounted to my frame with just a 1/4 rubber spacer, can I run duals without flipping the hubs? Can I run duals WITH the hubs flipped or will they stick out like crazy?

Rear Axle Lift Blocks for a Bobber

Found some 3-3/8" cast iron lift blocks on craigslist this morning and picked them up and installed them. Should be good to go now.

Rear Axle Lift Blocks for a Bobber

Today I finished bolting in the rear crossmember and I drilled the holes for the air lines and tail lights. I sat the bed on the frame on some 4x4" cribbing to see how much the springs would compress. The frame at the front by the winch is 38.5" high to the top. The frame at the very back...

Rear Axle Lift Blocks for a Bobber

Almost done building my bobber and I had some questions about the rear axle lift blocks for the M105 suspension bolted to the frame. First, I'm sure aluminum is a no-go with the weight we're dealing with, but is cast iron ok? It doesn't need to be billet steel or cast steel? In particular, are...

    Bobber bed to cab gap

I'm about to start mounting my M105 springs to my deuce frame and I wanted to verify something before I begin drilling holes this weekend. I'm hoping to use the measurements and existing holes for mounting as outlined on the XM381 website. Will centering the bed on the axle, based on those...

My Crew Cab 4x4 Deuce Build

There has been an embarrassing lack of progress on the truck. Between work, part time grad school, improvements to my house, and fixing up my jeep the time and money hasn't been there for the truck, but the jeep is "done-for-now" and the grad school will be done in August so I should be...

    2nd alternator, 12V

I did not eliminate the master switch. I replaced it with a keyed ignition switch, to be clear. I agree on the 3 wire alternator wiring. I have a 2 wire alternator, so that doesn't apply to me.

    2nd alternator, 12V

^This Lt Dan, that is the first issue I see with your schematic, you will constantly be energizing the alternator field and killing your 12V battery. I highly encourage you to copy my schematic in post 125 of this thread. I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish different from my system...

Anyone installed dual tanks on their deuce?

The 5 tons have a fuel tank selector switch on the floor of the cab for their dual tanks.

    2nd alternator, 12V

My beautiful wiring diagram is attached. The relays let the 12V system come alive and turn off with the 24V system automatically, or work from an accessory switch. So when I get in my truck, I hit the main power switch and the deuce fires up, the 12V radio and CB turns on, etc. No extra flipping...

My Crew Cab 4x4 Deuce Build

Hey that just might be worth the drive down! Let me know if you dig it out. Thanks!

My Crew Cab 4x4 Deuce Build

I got my leaf spring mounts and plates from Ballistic Fab too. They were quick to ship and well packaged. Can't wait to hot glue them to my axle. Also picked up a passenger side step and battery compartment assembly this evening for $25. What a deal! Now I just need to get lucky and find the...

My Crew Cab 4x4 Deuce Build

Sweet. That is pretty much what I'm going for, but I'm still thinking about if I can pull off a soft top...or both? I like the ladder to get to the roof rack. Good use of all that real estate up there.

My Crew Cab 4x4 Deuce Build

When it comes time to set the M105 bed on there will be helping hands needed with rewards of beer and pizza.

My Crew Cab 4x4 Deuce Build

Bed has been removed in a very painless manner.

    Soft Top

Well in this picture below I found online, I circled the area where the strip is engaging the frame, and it is inserted in the channel in the direction of the arrow.

    Soft Top

I didn't want to start a new thread on this. I went to put a nice new 3 color vinyl insulated soft top on my truck last night. I'm using door window frames from another deal, and they look old but still good. The problem came when I tried to slide the vertical window frame engaging strips into...

    Tranfer case hodgepodge

Well getting the air shift back in wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I went for a 10 mile drive and it functioned fine, shifted on the fly, didn't pop out of gear, no noise. No problems. I did stop and feel the case, the bearing ends felt hot to the touch, couldn't keep my hand on it...

    Tranfer case hodgepodge

Heath, as a project manager at a steam turbine repair shop, we always avoided welding castings, even with a high nickel content rod, preheat and post heat, it might not work. Metal stitching is the best repair, but not an economical option for me. And not to mention that case is already...

    Tranfer case hodgepodge

Ok, so the difference is not in the gears themselves, but the shaft they're on. I follow now. The remaining air shift parts I'm left with that could build one transfer case are not pretty, as you may recall the broken input shaft bearing, busted case, and also other items are worn like the yokes...
