Just my 2 cents regarding cutting WMO with gas or diesel.
I always use diesel.
The price seems to be about $0.40 more per gallon worst case.
If I'm making 100 gallons of WMO, I'm buying 20 gallons of diesel. 20 gallons of diesel is only $8.00 more than 20 gallons of gas.
It's worth it.
^yes, some things are an aerodynamic brick going either direction :D
I learned when I was young that hand guards on an ATV can be ripped off when towing it on a trailer backwards.
I bought a house and I'm closing next week. I can't wait to move in on the first day with my military vehicles and everything. I'm sure there will be some gawkers, maybe even a fender bender.
I disagree. Our vehicles aren't designed to go 45+ mph in reverse. It is fuel inefficient and could possibly cause damage. Load facing forward and use a spotter off to your front left. You shouldn't have a spotter on the trailer directly in front of you. If you can't handle getting the load...
The mast that is the base? I believe it is 2-1/2" diameter.
I used the bed crane for a few lifts and the hydraulic cylinder started leaking so I took it down and it is going in for new seals and maybe a new can tomorrow at a friend's hydraulic shop.
It didn't have enough power to lift an...
I had the thought of fabricating a swing away tire carrier on the back of a deuce, but the construction and reinforcement would be a massive undertaking. I built one for a jeep cherokee, and knowing what went into that, I would not attempt one for a deuce because of how beefy it would be...
Is that grease zerk number for real? 140+?
I know my truck has a lot of grease zerks, but I didn't know I had that kind of bragging right if that is an accurate number!
Side track...when DO you guys adjust valves? My truck sounds so smooth I don't believe it needs it right now, but I don't...
I put a secondary tank on my truck (search for it, I did a write up on it with pictures) and that is the way to go for carrying more fuel hands down.
If I get a flat I plan on using one of the 4 spare tires that are always along for the ride on my back axles. I took my spare tire mount from...
So anyone been building new stuff?
I installed heater elements and the snap switch in my oil drum and got it working but it took forever to heat up and I never got up to the 220F I was shooting for after a few hours. I need to get some insulation for my drum I guess (duh!).
I think I am...
I got a piece of glass cut today locally to the 26-7/8 x 16-5/8 and it cost $28. Worked perfect. I sand blasted and painted my old frames and used a $11 caulking tube of oderless black silicone to seal it up. It was messy but it works!
WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!
The link above will give you glass dimensions for an older deuce M135/M211.
They are not the same as the M35!!!
Now I have two pieces of new windshield glass for an older deuce that do me NO good.
#%*^$%*^#%(#@*&^&#*^@(#^@$)@)#^@*!
Does anyone know M35 windshield...
The seats in my CJ5 to M38A1 conversion project (ongoing since 2006) are ready to be addressed.
I'm getting creative with a passenger seat from an M35A2 for a rear seat and it has nice OD canvas, but the front seats are stock CJ5 low backs with torn, faded, blue material on them and I would...
Gotcha, I'm thinking about mounting mine on the front of the bed or on the mirrors (dual antennas probably) or be a little more subtle with a single one on the front bumper. Too many choices!
There are 2 deuces on the Pittsburgh craigslsit right now for $8k a piece! Yikes! I know a guy near Altoona, PA selling 2 runnings trucks W/W for $4500 a piece. There is a big difference in price in a small area example for you.
Keep hunting!
I bought my truck from a private seller in...
I'm happy with bags from Dudadiesel.
Search for pics of my set-up.
I need to get cooking again. My 2 50 gal truck tanks are empty and I have about 500 gal of oil waiting to be filtered.
Thanks, but don't egg me on, I'm trying to be modest and humble! I know I'll create an electrical fire or something next week when I'm on to the next project.
I will get that voltage meter installed there once I get it out of my cherokee where it isn't hooked to anything. I agree with you on...
