Hey does anyone here know if the yellow bumpers was a military thing? I've never seen that before but I can't imagine anyone but the military painting bumpers yellow. If anyone knows, it's gotta be someone here.
Hello all. Been wanting a CUCV for some time, finally got one.
The truck is an 85 M1009 with 86,000 miles +/-. Yes, it has a lift and 35's. I know some people here frown on lifts, but it's something I would have wanted to do eventually anyway so I consider it a bonus.
My questions is...
Thanks! I'm not giving up until I own one. I've been very patient and even completed a restoration of a 1987 Plymouth Gran Fury police car in the mean time. Now that that's done, I need a new pass time. Hope it works out.
Oh yeah! I'm in no way trying to "talk trash". I just find it amusing, probably because I've owned my share of civilian square-bodies and these issues make me laugh now because if I don't laugh it turns into aggression.
Nine years later John, I'm still looking. Life got in the way. Two kids, new job and a new house later, here I am - finally able to justify buying some green iron to play with. Found an M1008 near Albany that I might take a look at. I'd love an M35A2 to hide in my back yard but can't really...
I am new to the CUCV (despite being on this site lurking for nine years) and I just found out that the entire operation of the #2 alternator (and all that goes with it) is dependent on a crappy GM bulb socket and/or crappy GM printed circuit board.
If that doesn't define these trucks, I don't...
Just when I thought I was out....they pull me back in!
Haha. Yea I'm just thinking that $500 for a truck that needs a little floor work isn't such a bad deal. I'm going to look at the truck today to see just how far gone it us and how it runs.
Yea they say that about all of their cars. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a clear NY title. But knowing the backwards City of Utica, I also wouldn't be surprised if it had NO title at all and has been driving around on switched offical plates for the last 20 years. Good point though. If it...
Well it's funny, just when I got bitten by the CUCV bug for the second time (I was bitten a couple years ago but then my wife got pregnant) I found one for sale nearby.
I've searched high and low for CUCV's for a long time and NONE seem to pop up in my area, not within at least 250 miles. This...
Hey guys, I'm in Utica. Actually New Hartford, but figured Utica was more well known. I'm only a stone's throw away from Utica. You guys ever see any CUCV's around here? I've been looking for awhile and the only ones I can find on Craigslist (a whopping TWO) are on Long Island and in Jersey. The...
Hey guys. Great forum, PACKED with info. I'm loving it. As you can see by my avatar, I'm a Jeep guy and have been for several years. Used to have a civvie K5 and now I'm hoping to become the proud owner of an M1009 sometime in the near future. I've always wanted one and just decided I better do...
