I picked up a spare TCM and case. Before ordering the new module I was wondering if anyone had ever opened one up and attempted a repair.
I have no idea what will be inside, but I assume a chip to accept EEPROM and some other electrics and probably water damage.
All your questions are easily answered in the TM’s
Brake fluid is DOT5 not 5.1 or 3 or 4
Dextron 3/4/5/6 for tranny/x-fer case/ power steering fluid.
Rotella for engine oil.
I would source tires and rims from Feltz. I would avoid aftermarket. I would keep the Runflats inserts as if you get...
Loosen/remove either the fuel injectors or the glow plugs to allow water to escape, then spin the engine a dozen or so times. That will expel the water and prevent hydro lock.
I have purchased a set. I will need to make hinges. I will need to reenforce the sheet Aluminum. I have an old Aluminum sign so I will see if the gauge is thick enough. I’ll use angle iron for the hinges.
I will probably make a dummy to see if it works prior to cutting into the HMMWV.
Do...
I’m not sure if it’s the photography, but it looks like somethings wrong with the alternator itself. Is that spinning assembly itself shaking? Does it turn freely? Either that or you beat the shit out of it with a crowbar, which may damage the function of the stator, and may damage the function...
Only use DOT 5 in the brake fluid (not 3, 4, or 5.1)
Only use Dextran III/IV/V/VI in the tranny and power steering and Xfer case
Never work on the electrics without disconnecting the batteries.
You will see a few of us call that “the little green smoke escaped” or “you let the green smoke out”. We’re describing a blown unit.
Always ground yourself when working on components with delicate electrics. Just tie a stripped wire to a radiator and tie the other end to your wrist.
Perhaps crack open a McMaster catalog. I have a friend on the Hummer Network website who does that and he seems to be able to pull rabbits out of hats.
I’m not saying bearings and such will be there BUT it might be worth a shot.
Re.: coils and stators… my dad was a PE who designed and built...
I love it, but I still need all the mounting hardware. That is just the door without the stuff to attach to the fender… That’s why I need to purchase with pieces of the fender.
I am looking to customize my HMMWV vehicles. When driving on a hot day, there is not enough ventilation. In my old BJ 44 Toyota, there were kick panels that would open up so when driving on the open road air was forced in by the feet and ventilated the vehicle beautifully on a hot day. I have...
This happened to me when a hose burst. You need to remember how do emergency driving eslurf.
I had no difficulty because I remembered to keep the vehicle rolling to make turning the wheels easier, and to upshift and downshift the transmission to assist with braking. I had minimal issues and...
