Yeah, it's just irritating. I haven't had this motor installed for very long. Wasn't leaking when it went in. It would probably help if I retorque the heads, but I haven't made a wrench yet.
Yep! Order a good set of zipperless knuckle boots while you are at it.
There is a vendor here from Texas, I think his screen name is Rockwelloffroad, he sells the only good boots out there right now, as well as full axle reseal and bearing kits.
If I remember right, the point of using taper threads is so the end user can go to any hardware store and buy fittings of their choice to plumb it into the system, rather than having to order them. Taper fittings are available anywhere, and have proven to be fairly leak free on our trucks.
I'll try and get some pics of how I take them apart when I go into the shop later. You can get the parts from Ambac, or post a want ad in the classifieds and several members here will be able to get you the part or parts you may need.
Find a set of 11.00r20 G177s, they are tall radials. They will last forever, look good, and give you more top end speed.
I would get rid of the sprag case, but that's just me.
Yes, manage attachments.
Generally around 130 kb... I think..
Google Chrome from my Android phone
Wireless connection, no idea on speed
The pics were loading and loading, then nothing showed up and the loading indicator disappeared
No problems now, I loaded it with another pic, deselected the...
Thing is, you got a nice truck for what you paid. Why chop it up and make it worth less? You could probably put it up for sale and double your money or more right now.
I've driven my truck daily for three years now, and haven't had any reason or urge to Bob mine...
As close as you are, you need to push the spring down and remove the valve keepers from the plunger stem, then pull the spring guide and spring off. Once it is off, you'll be able to see the bow tie shaped drive key and see if it is cracked or broken.
That's pretty cool. They must have taken the track setup from an actual halftrack and installed it under the truck. As if it didn't have a low enough top speed before, I can only imagine how slow it is now. Should be great off road though, which I'm sure was the idea behind this mod.
Nicely done. I've got almost 6000 miles on mine with no leaks yet. Headgaskets are seeping and running back to the outside of the bellhousing now though.
Thanks for that tidbit Chris.
The tech sheet he posted says there is a plug to remove for bottom oil feed and drainback, but can be fed and drained from external lines by removing different plugs.
13 cfm would be enough to run a 1/2" impact continuously.
