I had this issue on my M934. It was the sending unit causing it. Here is how I tested it. First I installed a new ground wire from the frame to the sending unit. Then I connected a 10 ohm resistor from ground to the wire that goes to the gauge (at the tank with the sending unit disconnected). I...
My M934 is longer than a M923 but I think the way I mounted it would work. You need about 18” of frame rail to bolt up to. I had to move the glad hands but that was the easy part. The hardest pard was drilling 6 - 5/8” holes in the frame. The steel is quite hard.
Yes. I bought a class 5 hitch for a Chevy 3500. The frame rail width is exactly the same as my M934. I thought I had some pictures but can’t find them. I’ll go take some and show you what I did. I went with Class 5 because I haul a 32’ covered trailer with my M37 and M151 inside. The trailer...
Next time you take it out, try going no faster than 55 MPH. Do not use cruise control and be sure to turn off overdrive ( trailer mode). This will give you your true MPG. There is a huge difference between 55 and 70 MPH. It’s also a lot safer.
Based on your trouble shooting so far, it seems to have a weak spark. If we all agree to that, let’s check a couple of things. Use a volt meter to measure the supply voltage on the coil. Assuming fully charged batteries, it should be 28 volts. There is a screw in plug on the top of the...
Wow! This is frustrating me and it isn’t my truck! I’m concerned about fuel in the crankcase. Cranking an engine a lot without it starting can load fuel in the intake manifold. I saw this once on a friends M38. His manifold has a plug on top. We removed the plug and looked inside. The manifold...
This is a different capacitor. The capacitor that prevents arcing on the points is usually called the condenser. It is in fact an electrolytic capacitor. The "filter" capacitor I bypass is located in the bottom of the distributor under the coil cavity. It is what the 24 volt ignition wire...
I use a GMRS two way radio in my M37 for convoys. I haven't had any noise issues with this mod. You could bypass the capacitor you have and if it causes interference with your two way, then you could buy a replacement. I'm not trying to sell you on the idea, I just know it helped me a long time...
Did you remove the filter capacitor I wrote about in post #43? If my description was confusing, PM me and we can talk live on the phone. One of these days I am going to take a few pictures of this simple mod so it will be clearer. BTW, I gave up on using the Chinese coils. I built a mod that...
