Ah-hah! I have seen that listed in print on the net in a few places, but haven't seen one in pics. I like it! It looks a lot better than the 2-man helmet hard top from Amtech.
Thanks Mike. This is by far the largest and most exciting renovation this site has ever undergone! A lot of these features have been a long time coming. We are hopeful that this upgrade will fit the needs of the majority of our members and take the site to the next level. Mike and I are...
Man, what a beast. I enjoyed my time living and working in SE Virginia because there was always a chance of seeing some great military hardware on the roads. I saw at least a dozen different crew-cab International or Ford 6x6's pulling large boats and other cool Seabee stuff, but I never saw...
Ron was referring to Darwin T's post.
Personally, if I were going to use a 404 for off-road, I would skip the k-boom. They are such capable off-road trucks that I wouldn't want to do anything to hinder that. You might limit the frame articulation depending on how you mount it.
Nattie, the rims are currently in use for the heavy HMMWV's. There are odd and even spaced 24-bolt rims with a higher weight rating than the 12-bolts.
Alex, what kind of hard top is that? I have been thinking about equipping my 2-man with a hard top and hard doors for the winter.
FYI, the fresh ads are supposed to be sent to Mike once a week. If GL neglects to send fresh ads, then they don't get updated. We tried just removing the ad box if no ads were submitted, but then people post that "GL pulled their ads because people talk trash about them on SS." It seemed...
What Mog are you looking at? I would think a 416 or other long wheelbase Mog will handle the weight and stability issues better than a 406/409 for off-road. I have seen quite a few Mogs with Hiab k-booms mounted on them on Euro Mog sites. They look quite handy.
Hi guys,
I haven't been able to get my HMMWV shipped yet due to some serious mechanical issues with my previous shipper's truck. He suggested that I look elsewhere for a shipper since it might be a while before he can get to it. I have a listing on U-ship and have received a couple of offers...
Yes, that is correct. The 939-series are the original trucks sometimes referred to as A0 trucks. They have 11.00x20 NDT's and the NHC-250 Cummins. The 939A1's have the NHC-250 as well, but they were fitted with 14.00R20 super-singles. The 939A2's have the 8.3CTA Cummins and the 14.00R20...
I applied for an SF-97 around a month ago for a M101A3 trailer that I purchased. I received an AZ title for it and I'm in WV now. I used to get FL titles for the trucks I was buying when living in VA, but I don't think FL does trailer titles so maybe that's why I got an AZ title this time...
Sounds like a case of "Death Wobble." It seems to be fairly common across all brands of solid axle trucks. I had it in my 1009 and it had bad ball-joints. I had it in my Ram 2500 and it was a bad track bar bushing.
The king-pins are a fairly common source of DW in the Dana 60 in CUCV M1008's...
OK gang. Please drop the back and forth about how people are treated on what forum and get back to the original topic of TOW systems on a M151. All MV forums out there serve the same purpose, which is to further the MV hobby. You may find that you get along better with people on one...
That's my only hang up with the 2-man too. Maybe I'll do a TOW launcher slant-back [thumbzup] or I can always keep a 4 man set up and some extra seats on hand if the fam wants to go somewhere with me.
Nice job guys! I love the SS Supply Train. Mike, I wish I would have known you were going to build a FMTV because I had a couple of rims and tires at Winslow's a couple of years ago for consignment. Bummer.
Welcome coachgeo! I thought about dieselizing my 404 too, but sold it before that could happen. I change MV's like some folks change underwear :) One day I will own a 1300L with super-fast axles and a turbo. Drooool...
Sounds good. I will take inventory when I get it home and let you know what I need. I am pretty sure I am going to keep mine in the 2-man config and add a M6 or M7 pedestal mount in the back. I will be upgrading to the 12k hubs and shafts so I may end up getting a CTIS setup from you when I do.
Yes, there are diesel-fired heaters for the CUCV. They are part of the arctic kit. Mangus580 has the kit on his 1009 and another member, Jetnoise400, had a 1009 with the full kit, but he sold it.
