Well, after doing enough swapping of parts around, I had a 105 bed, and the 116 trailer that I took the 101 bed off of.
I had thought about putting it on there before, but the 116 tires are too close together to fit in the 105 wheel wells.
Now, I did NOT do this to actually USE the trailer. I...
This is why I opted to go the 916/920 route, rather then change my 818.
It would actually be CHEAPER to get a 920 and modify it how I want, then try and change the 818 to even be close to where the 920 even started at!
Btw, for duals, you can get 44' to 46" tall tires.
As for lighter, the...
Ya know, I couldn't agree more with most of what you said!
Only part could be the 'easy' part. Never know the condition of the existing tires.
I like to let the tires soak the lube in.
I buy WD-40 in the gallon can (use it for machining purposes mainly.)
Pour some around the bead and let it...
Yeah, original studs 'should' work on those just fine. It is the double thickness of the hemtt rims that require the change.
Btw, I went to a few of the local truck places. One of them had the thimbles for only $1.49 each.
So for about $90 I could get an entire new set of them to have machined...
The M915's already run the smaller tires (compared to the 916 and 920.)
It is about clearing the brake drum.
But, you can run a 22.5 low profile tire if you what a shorter overall tire (I think that it will be a little shorter then stock, but not totally sure on that point.)
That is why I like stats that have the little bleeder hole in them. Air will naturally bleed itself out.
Of course it is really easy to drill a 1/16" hole to do the same thing.
I bend the valve stems a little. Enough so I can air them up from either side of the tire.
It also helps with getting to the valve cores.
I thought the o-rings were supposed to be mounted dry? Not lubed like the hmmwv rims need to be.
I put my o-rings in dry, and thumped the sidewall. Aired up...
The m916A1s that I saw on GL were not the push button auto.
Which makes them the 5 speed Allison, right?
They should have the Detroit 60 series to be a true A1 variant (at least I think that was the big change for the 916.... )
Considering that they are ROAD tractors, not a tactical truck, road speed IS important.
Besides, they only revamped to the auto transmissions at a later date, so road speeds where all around.
I just do not like running a truck at the rated rpm just to try and keep up with traffic. Kills the...
Have a simple micro switch on the throttle pedal. Have it ONLY activate when there is NO throttle pressure.
This is the way they are set, and one of the best ways for them to work.
Have a switch that turns the entire system on/off. So it isn't always running the brake when you don't need it...
That works in a single cylinder engine with no crankcase vent.
You ever pull the PVC valve and see how it PUFFS the air out? One for each cylinder like you are describing.
Two things are different from your scenaro though, the PVC allows vacuum to pull out pressure from the crankcase. And for...
That is a fairly true statement.
Problem is, the exhaust valve lets air back into the cylinder, thus starting the entire vacuum pump affect again.
Then when the intake valve opens in it's next cycle, it (having approx 24" vacuum in the intake,) will equalize with the current volume of air in the...
Actually, I DON'T want new studs. I want to put the stock rims/tires back on this truck. So the longer studs are out.
Btw, it was with a bench grinder and a bucket of water. Not perfect, but close enough for you to pull your panties out of a bunch.
Btw, the ends are square. Actually, they were...
Personally, I think the equalizer that stalwart posted is about the easiest way to go about doing this.
Especially in that is stands to reason that it will help extend the life of the batteries even if left in stock form.
Yeah, but vacuum is lost once the exhaust valve opens.
I can see where you are working with a vacuum pump where you would maintain the vacuum in the cylinder for each cycle of the piston.
But this doesn't apply when the exhaust valve opens and lets pressure back into the cylinder. Once the...
