They are NOT air brakes.
The air ASSIST works in the same exact fashion that vacuum brakes do. So if you completely loose air pressure, you still have functional brakes, you just need to push the pedal a lot harder (just like vacuum brakes when the engine is off.)
No, it is only air ASSIST.
Which is the same as vacuum assist.
Now, if you tow any trailer with the air brakes, then YES, it would be air over hydraulic.
Most people in CA get the Historic Vehicle plates (I had them on all mine while there,) and not being able to have any load precludes the...
It is leaking out of the vent portion of the valve.
Pull it apart and check/clean it. Most likely solve your problem (unless it has a bad o-ring, but those are easy to fix.)
Looks like it is the valve for activating the clutch for the fan.
First place I tried.
Wire Rope & Cable > Fabricated Wire Rope Products > Tow Truck Winch Lines - WebRiggingSupply
Has it 200' for $437.
Oh yeah, sorry, forgot to warn you.
Hope you were sitting down! lol
Other places to get it though, imagine for a bit cheaper. Still not CHEAP though.
Oh, sorry if that seemed like a thread hi-jack! Just seems that one person could answer both questions at the same time (and possibly with the same simple answer.)
Curious about this one as well.
And do they downshift fast enough when you are really dropping speed fast on a steep hill (6% to 10% or so) ? Or can you just skip gears on the down shift and make it easier, like in a regular OTR tranny?
I like those step decks!
I have a 35' flatbed for my 818. Works great.
But it is pretty darn high, and with the bigger tires on the 818, it is really high!
Thought about selling it to buy a decent step deck so I can haul some of my other MV's without being over height.
Quick look at tpub shows this simple diagram.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Not sure how much real charging it can do for 24v, but with a battery equalizer as part of the system, I imagine the alternator doesn't put out a lot of 24v.
Seems like doing the 12v electrical hookups should be pretty easy though.
Yeah, basically the air switch just cuts off air too the entire transfer case setup.
Which puts the sprage in the neutral position.
If you engage the air switch, it just supplies air to the valves, lets the original valves work like stock/normal for forward and reverse.
Clear as mud?
Nice reasoning!
The 21SI has a rear mounting tab, and a more robust case.
I found the ebay add for the 70 amp 10SI.
I personally would go with the 21SI.
I didn't know the 10SI went up to 70 amps.
Gimp has it though, simply basing it on weight is actually a real simple way to go about it.
Btw, I think the 21SI is a more stout unit.
Yeah, not much for negatives on bypassing and/or turning the fuel up.
Btw, turning the fuel up helped one truck start faster on just diesel.
One point where the FDC seemed to hinder things was when running biodiesel. I think Bjorn noticed it was actually compensating the wrong way with that...
Actually, I think turning up the fuel DOES affect it.
But for the good. When you turn the fuel up, it starts faster/easier.
I noticed it even more when running the WMO.
Granted, it isn't that big of a deal, and not that big of a difference. But I DID notice it.
