Newer gear oils have a lot of additives, GL1 and stuff like that have almost nothing as far as additives go.
Personally, I would swear that the delo 15w40 is thinner then 75w90 gear oil. But what do I know.
API viscosity ratings for gear oils are not directly comparable with those for motor oil, and they are thinner than the figures suggest. For example, many modern gearboxes use a 75W90 gear oil, which is actually of equivalent viscosity to a 10W40 motor oil.
Your right, I used a 101A1 bed.
It lacks the fender extensions, but it also doesn't have all the extra supports like the A2 and A3 beds have. Thus, giving it a sleeker look.
I figured it would be easier to add the fender extensions on the A1 bed. And still have a smooth looking bed. Plus, I...
Actually, the returned fuel still goes back to the main tank. So even putting in the WMO in the system before the IP doesn't help.
ONLY way to get away from that is to have a secondary injection system. And that just isn't going to happen.
Not trying to bust your chops on the brakes, just would hate for someone to tell a LEO or dmv person it has air over hydraulics, then get a ticket, or worse.
Of course, knowing that, and how the trailers work, is a needed point when the trailers WOULD require it.
And yeah, CA is the only state...
The deuce has air ASSIST brakes, not air over hydraulic (the trailers use this system.)
Air assist doesn't require the air brake endorsement, but if you pull any of the trailers that have air lines, they ARE air over hydraulic, or full air, and would possibly require the endorsement.
Most...
Torque curves on a diesel with turbos are pretty flat.
Naturally aspirated are not the same. Even though they are not that bad, they still don't act the same.
Isn't the peak torque rated at 1,500 rpm?
Yeah, I think if you limit the speed, these trucks can really pull their weight!
I mean, with that kind of gearing, you are going to have plenty of power to pull some seriously heavy weights.
Good to see the trucks getting used.
Oh yeah, there are 10 stock rims/tires, and only 6 of the super singles. So that makes a difference as well. And those stock tires are not exactly light either.
I gained around 1,000 lbs when I put the 16's on my 818. I am a little under 21k on the scales.
Otherwise stock truck though, and no winch.
I know my 16's on HEMTT rims are about 515 lbs each. No inserts.
I would have done it myself.
BUT, you got a good deal! That was a LOT of work they had to do.
Btw, Harbor Freight has the 1" impact guns for fairly cheap. Get the twin hammer one. Trust me, it is worth the slight increase in price. And they break loose just about anything. I have used mine a...
ARGH!
Well, it looks like I had a second one of these fry!
I caught this one before it did a total melt down. But it was starting to let the magic smoke out.
I had the engine warming up, then the engine just died. A few second later I heard a little hissing, then smelled the smoke.
Any ideas...
The frame width between the two trailers is completely different.
With a bit of thinking, I bed I could use the stock 101 hardware to mount the 105 bed.
But, like I said, I just need to move this heavy and awkward thing around.
