Has anyone bought any of the MWM 2.8 liter diesel engines from GP? The engine fits the M1161 air transportable Growler from the Marines. I bought one about 2 months ago. It looked new, still in the crate wrapped in plastic and such. Well I am having quite the time finding the parts for this...
I hate to say this but I will. I am not a real big believer in additives or anything like that.... but here it comes... I used to use Mobil 1 synthetic for my 1009. I worked with a friend who was a Amsoil dealer on the side. I bought a case of the diesel oil from him thinking not to much of it...
Thank everyone for all the replies. So far, I have checked every fusible link outside of the wire loom, both sides of each one show they have infinity.... good, I replaced the horn relay, have no idea where to get the diode but the napa guy said the new relay has it built in, it shows one as a...
I got ya on the buss bars... I am talking about the 24 volt positive and the negative under it. I checked the buss bar but I cant see anywhere it would be contacting anything that could do that... the noise filter do you know where I could get one for cheap? I found a company that sells one but...
"The fact that the wire that runs to the vehicles positive 12v buss over by the brake master cylinder comes off the clamp that is attached to the negative terminal of the rear battery is irrelevant."
Do you mean the passenger side of the engine compartment? This is an M1009 not an M1031.
I...
Update: Did the doghead, put the steering column back together, hook up the batteries and start it up. It starts with a clunk... normal from what everyone says, let it idle for 5 minutes shut it off. start it again, starts up fine. next day go out to start it and get the clunk but starter does...
Ok I posted somewhere else about my 09 electrical woes but here goes: ok, had a grounded starter cable it caused all kinds of ****. Needless to say, I fixed most of the fried ground wires I could see or know about including the drivers side alt replacement. I got it running but its not charging...
OK, this is what happened. I replaced the starter with a new one. I noticed that my main power cable was dangling close, but not OMG close, to the block so i pulled it a little farther away from the block as I had already planned on replacing it the following weekend. I am coming back from a...
I am having the same problem that originated when my big power cable to the starter rubbed against the block and shorted out, the starter, then ground wires here and there. I have no headlights, but got power to the plugs for the lights themselves, I also have all lights running at 24 volts...
a little heavy
I pulled a 6900 pound crane counter weight with my 1009. sorry didnt think to get any pictures of it loaded into the uhaul trailer with both axles sagging to support the load. but got 20 mpgs with it in there. I usually get 23 mpgs on the hwy with it.... been to north Dakota and...
Yup sure enuff the box filter failed but not so bad to fix... the o ring on the back of the filter base started to leak you just have to pry out the little sensor and throw it away and put JB weld in place of the sensor. I got that info off another site where a guy named Van had been giving...
Since I got my 1009 in August of last year I have yet to see any problems with the box filter setup and like someone had pointed out to me on here " if it ain't broke why change it yet" and it hasn't. I was going to do the doghead mod and thats when I got told that and to date my baby has not...
Thanks guys for all the help... I pulled the IP and sent it off to get rebuilt...it'll be back here in 2 weeks. The pump had a LOT of slack in the innards when I would rotate the shaft. Like almost half way around before it would catch anything in the pump. Needless to say, it appeared that...
From what I can see is your gasket on your drain plug is leaking, and that is your flexplate/ torque converter cover in the other photo and yes that hole is supposed to be there. The air is blowing the oil all over thew place.
Just like to point out that if your alternator is working you can take something magnetic while running and it will stick to it on the backside. Just a quick way to test your alternator. If it sticks its good if it don't you need to replace it. The alternator creates a magnetic field when...
I would like to point out there are some folks who have never owned an ARB and would have not a clue what to look for. I personally like mechanical lockers, plain and simple! Not bashing ARB just not my cup of tea. As for why we have knockoffs, its all about cost and companies getting...
