CUCVRUS...So you never deal with modified vehicles but are giving advice on them? You said that a guy runs oversized tires with zero issues but the OP's problems are probably the tires. You've fixed deathwobble but are not sure how it truly was resolved. Posts like this help absolutely no one...
I would sit on that bench for a few hours and get back to me on how much more comfy it is than the buckets. It is on par with a milk crate or flipped over 5 gallon bucket.
I use the recommended dosage of Diesel Kleen gray bottle at every fill up. I notice it tends to accelerate better, rattle less, and I know that the IP isn't grinding itself to death with the ULSD garbage. I use Diesel Kleen white bottle for winter storage.
I don't follow here. You have an IP that has an unknown fuel screw setting and you are adding something to the fuel. Unless you are willing to try it without the 2 cycle oil first and then maybe even reset the IP screw, this whole conversation is a waste of time. A stock 6.2 should never really...
You have a very bad combo here for death wobble. The Goodyear 37's just from age are probably the culprit, then throw them on a rather heavy rim assembly and add more rotating mass beadlock rings...I can't even imagine what this would do. I would throw some fresh stock size tires on from another...
I've run a few rigs with no stabilizer with oversized heavily offset tires with zero issues. They also had crossover steering with a good draglink angle, very tight frontend, and new knuckle bearings so it can be done. The stabilizer just adds drag to the whole system to prevent it from...
Sounds like you should start at the fuel tank and work your way to the IP replacing everything along the way. It really is the only way to gain reliability in an old truck. All it takes is one old hose or bad clamp to wreak havoc.
I may be talking about a different scenario. I think driving with a locker up front and one hub unlocked in 4wd won't hurt anything since you are applying torque and locking up the mechanism. In 2wd though, you are causing the unit to lock through the one driving hub which will cause more drag...
I think this particular arrangement is less than desirable, your most traction should be on the rear wheels as a general rule of thumb. True tracs front and rear is a good idea. True Trac front and full Detroit rear is better but won't handle as good on the street.
DO NOT UNLOCK ONE HUB WITH...
What are the odds that both sides fail at the same time?
If the exhaust is restricted causing low airflow, wouldn't it blow black smoke in the upper throttle range?
I'm assuming you actually wheel and want traction here and that this isn't just a web wheeling scenario. First, I would make sure my steering was dialed in. A front locker is going to do you no good if you can't point the wheels where you want to and it certainly won't do you any good if you...
I am very happy with my ORD parts and I will be using them again shortly for my Suburban build. The stock steering will leave a bit to be desired but if it street duty only you should be ok. I agree, no tcase drop. It goes against why you are getting a lift.
I agree Waxoil is great but pricey. Anything that will leave an oily film will do wonders. The best way is to stay out of that calcium slush and wash immediately if you do. Highly recommend drilling small holes in your panels and spraying in with a wand.
I'm not a big fan of the rubberized...
My truck did the same thing due to bad bulb connections which required lots of cleaning at first. I also had a hazard switch that didn't play nice causing havoc. I never replaced it but required lots of exercise for the circuit to make contact and function.
It probably does a better job at balancing the power pulses over a traditional rubber one. I think the major issue with the factory one is when they get old the outer shell spins because of the dry rotted material. I have a China made AC Delco unit on mine for a few years now with no issues. I...
That is a good looking rig! What are the specs on the tires?
I want to run 37's on 16.5 wheels for my new Suburban project but I really want to get away from the 16.5's as tires are becoming very scarce in selection and rims that are white wagon wheels are hard to track down as well unless you...
