First, #2 diesel is not the same thing as LSD. There was #2 diesel before LSD, and there is #2 ULSD.
Second, Biodiesel has far better lubricity than petroleum diesel.
Third, as a previous poster stated, the gelling temp of Biodiesel varies based upon the feedstock. Animal fat based biodiesel...
Seeing those trucks in person takes some of the sting off things. Everything has a beginning and an end, and after serving with all they had, these trucks are ready for their end. Glad they could help out others with some parts. Thanks Glen!
Firstly, I wanted to appologize for saying the "s" word (scrap). I would not let these get scrapped, but the information about the need for these parts does help convince my parents, the farm owners, to be careful with them.
Attached are more pictures of the front and back of the doors, and...
In WWII, My grandfather was a tank mechanic. After the war, he bought a surplus halftrack and used it on the farm. They removed most of the armor on it and some was cut up and welded into other equipment. However, we just found both doors intact and complete, though the hinges are rusty. What is...
The channel is simply bolted to the plate, it doesn't contribute much more rigidity to the weld than the hitch would have. You can assume the channel is infinitely stiff and it doesn't change the fact you are (more than) doubling the moment load. Not just on the weld, but on every component...
I have *heard* to fill the cylinders with penetrating oil and place a largepry-bar/lever/wrench on the end of the motor, then hang a bunch of weight off of the end of it. Then walk away and forget it. If you are lucky, one day you will walk by and realize the weight is lower than when you...
I see people abuse RTV far to often. My opinion: the gasket is there for a reason. If it needed RTV, they wouldn't have made the gasket. Now, I have used Gasgacinch gasket sealant in the past to help gaskets stick into place while I fit everything together, but this is a far cry from RTV and...
Agree with location of failure.
Disagree with your load de-rating. The original rating was based on an offset of ~6 inches meaning the joint is good for 5000ftlbs. (10000lb*.5ft) Offsetting it up to 12 inches means your new rating is 5000lbs or less. (5000ftlbs/1ft=5000lbs.)
Yes, I bought three 070A's. Sold one to MidnightDuramax. Have the other two running preparing to mount one on my deuce. These were converted with electronic solenoids and a wired remote vs the manual valves on the one you are looking at.
Gimpy,
It's important to realize that only the crane is made by Hiab. All the rest, motor, hydraulics were put on by Tiffin. Hiab will help you with the crane part, Tiffin is who you will have to talk to about the rest. This is base on my limited experience with 2 months of crane ownership.
Bing had a birds eye view of my old house in South Dakota and my old deuce. Based on the vehicles and the deuces placement, this would have been taken fall of 2007.
The crane is made by Hiab and then the folks at Tiffin loader crane modify them by adding the power unit and the base. Does that one have manual levers, or the remote control?
Hiab sold me the operator and parts manuals for my 070A. Tiffin gave me the color code for the wiring. Have not...
Adding here rather than making a new post(even though it doesn't help the OP)
