Ok, I think I have the rear axles figured out, but the front axle has an o-ring port to feed the valve on the wheel. How to I cap or eliminate that o-ring port?
They gave a reason why you cant use it in tractors with turning brakes, but I did not see a stated reason why for putting it in the front driver. For some reason I always have to know the "why".
Do you have a video channel anywhere? If you do put 2 in, I would sure love to watch and listen to a video of a couple mile drive sometime.:driver:
If you only put one in, my vote is for the rear rear. If something crunches, you can remove the interaxle drive shaft and keep on keep'n on. IMO.
Agreed fully.
We can get as technical as we wish. But even the term "locker" is a general term. "Posi" is an even broader term from way back when I wuz in skule.
Likely it will push straight unless enough speed is had to transfer weight from the inside, to the ouside. The longer the wheelbase with heavier front axle, the less push will be occur.
One of the best analogies for a welded diff would be riding an old honda atc three wheeler. It had a...
We always called the welded diff a "lincoln locker" as most were done with the old lincoln buzz box welders.
On asphalt the lincoln locker would be devastating. Even the detroit will wear tires worse as the inside will do the driving and outside has to free wheel faster than the ring gear...
Awesome. That is just what I was hoping to hear. Can I instead of plugging at the air valve, just put a plug in the line where it connects to the axle and fasten the line up out of harms way? Or does the valve need to be eliminated from the air circuit by plugging in front of the valve?
I read thru many threads on disabling the ctis and some diagnosing, but I have a functioning ctis on my 931. I do not wish to disable it per se', just not use it while I have civilian tires and wheels on it. Can I simply plug the port at the hub and lines at the axle? Or would this cause issues...
This morning went and picked up my new to me M931. I assume it is an A2? 8.3L Cant wait to get started on it. It will be for farm usage pulling a large sprayer around.
CTIS even works........for now. Boy is it ever slow to deflate 6 big tires to run flat mode.
I do not know the physics word for it, but if you fix the drive sprocket to the hull structure and suspend the mid rollers, you will have to have a track chain slack tension device that can take up the slack during suspension compression and release the slack during suspension extension...
For whatever reason, seeing a civilian trailed unit on the back of any military truck is always my favorite pictures to view. It always puts a direct comparison right in front of your eyes. Thanks.
I just bought my first 5 ton as well. I will pick it up friday morning early and have pics and...
Local road construction business has a cement/lime spreader on a 5 ton 800 series. Does'nt spread wide like you're going to build, but it sure seems to work well when they need to ad cement/lime to the soil for road building.
With the winch? That's awesome. The truck turned out really nice. If I can get it 18,000 or a little over like yours, but I wont have a winch, I'd be a really happy camper as they say.
I hope to use mine to pull a farm sprayer. I currently use a Sterling single axle to pull it and it works...
I found several threads with the weight of the whole truck in a search, but can not find what the weight of just the dump body attachment is on the 9xx series trucks. I am looking at one in Oregon somewhat local to me, and the dump body is mounted to a sub frame that is easily removed. I would...
