Cool. Thanks. [thumbzup] I'm still new here, so I like to make friends instead of enemies as I learn what is acceptable and not.
My 6.7 has the dpf. 3.73:1 gears, 6 speed auto. Milage sucks bad. I did note that the brand and quality of fuel made a world of difference though. Cheap fuel on a...
I apologize up front if my comments here are not acceptable because I am barely a beginner within this military pool of experience, knowledge and equipment expertise. I have only bought axles and t-cases plus a few odds and ends so far, but am looking at collecting a few heavy haul vehicles as...
Remove the rear of the tandem and put a front steering axle in its place. ??? With the proper caster shims and a spring shock on the tie rod, it will follow and track right. You can make a "lock/unlock" mechanism on the steering so you'd have a non steering axle when roading at speed or off...
Ok, pump part of the system is the only part that dictates a fixed displacement. In other words, the winch motor and cylinders can be used with a variable displacement pump system as well as the fixed displacement. Yes, the M920, which states a "gear pump" is fixed displacement.
The motor on...
In general, a tandem hydraulic pump will be two seperate pumps coupled together, having two seperate outlets for individual circuits, and two seperate inlets, but occasionally a tandem pump system will share a common inlet.
Gear pumps are a positive displacement pump with a fixed displacement...
That's the impression I have of Soni. Sounds like a very easy to get along with sort. Eldgenb's project is awesome and has a lot to offer about the experience of driving the 920 in a basic state getting it home. I hope before Eldgenb stops adding his knowledge to the thread, he waits for Soni to...
Ya, I had read in a description the 12/24 volt for electrics, but had no idea what part might be what voltage. Note to self, front headlights 12 v.
As far as what I would like to read about, the Cat trans is sort of a specific to the 920 trans, and as so little is written about it, may be a...
Your very gracious offer could not have come at a better time.
I have read all I can about the 920s and the 911s.
Your articles and your replies here, have been invaluable. Absolutely incredible.
I have been trying to deal on this truck the past few days. I will have all the info on it...
Coldfusion, the more friends, the better. Thanks.
I've tryed to read what I could with my limited imagination finding search words. But once I got the hubs and spindles, holy smokes, I am absolutely amazed at the functionality and versatility that was engineered into these units. I...
My hubs and spidles showed up UPS today. One hub and spindle, disassembled without bearing cones or drive cap, weighed 109lbs. A 3rd box with the bearings and caps etc. came in at over 50lbs. The UPS guys earned every penny.
Thank so for the information.
Ok, so the 800 started with the Cummins?
It is a turboed version continental. I have only viewed it once and of course, I only have the owners info to go on, which is likely false. The air cleaner is on the right fender instead of the left and grill is different than the other 5 tons I have...
Hi all. For a project of a different nature, I may need the wheel flange position that is available on the rear wheel hubs, on the front spindles. Is this a possible change?
Some more details. There will be no brakes, and no drive axle at this time. What I need to do, is build a spindle mount...
Puget Sound Truck Sales of Pacific, Washington
Look at the peterbilt. It is a 6x6 and about 60,000 dollars. They also have several cabover fire truck style digger derrick trucks in 6x6 config for less money. But that Pete has the same rear axles as the M911. It is on 24" rear tires.
You...
Is'nt that a truely incredible site? I've been reading there for............jeez, I dunno, months, and still have only scraped the surface of what is there. Robert is basically a neighbor of mine as his operation is just "over the hill" from me in Columbia county Oregon. I am in Washington...
Hi all. Firstly I'd like to mention what a great knowledge resource this site is. One does not realize just how rare the information is about these vehicles and equipment untill one goes looking for that information. Well guess what,...probably 5 of 10 google results point to this site. I just...
Keeping in mind that I barely even make beginner status yet at the military ID thing, but the eye up top of the axle does look exactly like a civilian rough terrain forklift would for the steering axle. Or,........and I dont know yet if the military uses these, but in the civilian nomanclature...
The folks at Boyce equipment have installed many. According to Brett, they use a unit that fits between the seats and have a bracketry setup for the cummins. I'm unsure of the brand, but if I buy my 5 ton from Boyce, it will have this unit.
I also found through asking about, that a company...
