And make sure you have a dipstick for the fuel tank. The only thing that lies more consistently than a career politician is a military vehicle fuel gauge.
Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Academy.:cookoo:

I had a deuce dropside bed but sold it before I decided to do the conversion. The issue with any bed is that the front of the trailer hits the bed under certain types of maneuvers depending on terrain. A shorter bed would also have looked strange because it would have ended between...

The official AAR is closed to the rank and file. We tried it and it degenerated into a pissing contest and gripe fest. Only the principals can view the thread and make comments. If there are workable solutions to specific problems someone will post it in the open.

Back in the late 70's when one of my chicken hauling buddies had a rough riding cab over Peterbuilt he put two heavy coil springs between the axle and the frame. he claimed it made the truck ride a lot smoother......but you know how them truck drivers lie.
:tigger:
The M123 suffers from the same deficiency as all the other tank haulers the Army ever bought. They are gearbound to around 45 MPH. My guess it to keep young soldiers from committing mayhem on the public roads with large trucks carrying heavy loads.
It would be interesting to see if...

Let me explain how the MKT operation goes:
0500 am Mike and I get up and fire up the stoves/grill and for the next two hours cook the breakfast items with our corp group of volunteers. We are not professionals so chow is called when it is ready. The last two days of the rally I cooked...
I want to give a special shout out to Mike (microjeep). Mike has been our head Pearl Diver (dishwasher) for the last two years.
While I don't mind cooking I hate washing dishes, especially the greasy pots, pans and utensils that we use to prepare the meals we serve out of the MKT.
Mike takes a...
The rig made it to the GA Rally and back with no mechanical issues.
It will not turn too tight so I had to get a tractor to pull the trailer out to when I could back straight under it (the MKT Prime Mover was in the way).
I haven't decided if I'll leave it like it is or revert it back to the...

Older boarding ladders will prob be too short due to the super singles. It might reach from the bed to the ground but it would be way too steep.
I would consider one of the folding ladders that you can configure into several shapes.
We made it back around 5pm Alabama time. Had an incident coming through Cedartown, GA. One of the fiberglass racks fell off the truck and was hit by a lady going south. We stopped and made sure she was OK and called the local LEO's. Got her car patched up enough to drive and filed a claim with...
I still have the 7 HEMMT rims with CNC machined deuce adaptors. Come see me and make a reasonable offer. I also have the multi-fuel water heater that needs to be re-homed. 300 bucks or trade for anything that don't eat.
I have a deuce engine on the back of the 5 ton. It has been stripped of a few parts. Ferro has laid claim to it but he might not mind giving the water pump to the cause of getting another truck to the rally. Let us know if you need it.
We got the circus wagon set up and most of our trade goods spotted. T-shirt business is brisk. Thank all of you for supporting us. I cut the order big time this year so we are out of medium in both colors and only have 2x and 3x in black and 2x and 3x in tan. If you pre-ordered shirts we have...

Well she made the trip to the Flying J truck stop at exit 138 just fine. Pulled like a champ and a lot less pucker factor than dragging the trailer on a tow dolly.
I'll post some pics tomorrow. We should be on site at Durhamtown early in the morning.

We are camped out at the Flying J. We will breakfast here tomorrow and be at the rally site by 0900 or earlier.
The truck pulled great and the trailer followed like a baby duck.
No pics until tomorrow.
